CAUTI<strong>ON</strong><br />

Do not go faster than the maximum allowable<br />

speeds shown on the MAXIMUM ROAD SPEED<br />

able speeds. Be alert for signs of equipment<br />

failure.<br />

All trucks received by the using organization must be road tested to check operation<br />

and condition. For all new or reconditioned trucks, except those driven 50<br />

miles or more during deliver, the road test will be a minimum of 50 miles. For used<br />

trucks and trucks driven 50 miles or more during delivery, the road test will be long _<br />

enough to see vehicle operation and condition. The operator will look at the instrument<br />

panel and gages, as often as possible, for signs of unsatisfactory performance.<br />

Stops will be made at least every <strong>10</strong> miles to give the operator a chance to check<br />

the truck for possible coolant, oil, fuel or exhaust leaks and any signs that may<br />

show the engine, transmission, wheel hubs , brakedrums , axle differential or transfer<br />

assemblies are overheated. The truck must be checked thoroughly for any control<br />

hard to operate and any instrument not operating properly. Unusual noises and<br />

vibrations will be noted. All unusual conditions will be told to the organizational<br />

maintenance unit.<br />

d. After the Road Test. After the road test, fix any faulty condition which<br />

can be done at operator’s maintenance level. Tell the organizational maintenance<br />

unit about any other faulty conditions.<br />
