Goals and Challenges
Around the world, in virtually every area of construction, marine and
manufacturing industry, Kawasaki Precision Machinery (KPM) is a reliable provider
of superlative power and control solutions.
KPM asked Tellonline to come up with a creative design and innovative ideas
in order to bring Kawasaki’s internet presence to a whole new level.
The project involved a new site design and the site had to be built in a new content
management system that would enable Kawasaki to manage their content in
an easy way. The site needed to contain a news section in order for KPM to offer
RSS news feeds and the ability to upload technical documentations. As part
of the concept Tellonline also introduced animations and video clips for download.
The big and interesting challenges in this project was for Tellonline to create
a distributor zone – an extranet - for distributors from around the globe to be able
to access specific information for their specific organisations and to order goods
online. Tellonline also needed to integrate certain elements of Kawasaki Precision
Machinery’ SAP system to deliver information to the distributor zone.
Solutions
Tellonline introduced Kentico as the content management system. KPM were and
are since very happy to work with Kentico as it is easy-to-use and the content
editors have everything they need to keep the site up to date since its launch.
For the more technical parts of the project Tellonline worked very closely with
Kawasaki’s IT department. Tellonline built the web parts to communicate with
the SAP web services that KPM delivered.
Due to the very specific requirements of the ordering system Tellonline built
a bespoke .net ordering system to work within the distributor zone/extranet area.
The project took Tellonline and KPM
3 months from start to finish.
A detailed project plan with
milestones and all the relevant
resources made the project go
smoothly and finish at the desired
date.
Tellonline and KPM plan to deliver
new sites to the Chinese and
Japanese markets in the not too
distant future.
Key criteria for selecting Kentico CMS
“We were over the moon
when Kawasaki approached
Tellonline to deliver their new
site and Distributor Zone.
Being able to introduce them
to Kentico was an instant
success as, for the first time
Kawasaki were able to
appreciate what a quality
CMS can deliver.
Our relationship continues to
flourish and the new
developments, in relation to
SAP integration, are evolving
the Distributor Zone providing
a powerful tool for their
clients.”
Kentico was the right and obvious choice for this project with all its out-of-the box
features. The client’s content editors like working with Kentico CMS and keep
the website up-to-date since its launch.
Tellonline once again enjoyed working on a project that enabled them to merge
bespoke .net parts with the content management system seamlessly.
