Gordon, M.S. & Russo, K. (2009). Children’s Views Matter Too! A Pilot Project Assessing Children’s and<br />
Adolescent’s Experiences <strong>of</strong> Clinical Psychology Services. Child Care in Practice, 15, 1, 39-48.<br />
This clinical paper led to the development <strong>of</strong> a user involvement initiative at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick<br />
Children, Clinical Psychology Department. Based on the findings from the research, information leaflets were<br />
developed for users <strong>of</strong> the service, including both caregivers and children, to inform service users <strong>of</strong> the nature<br />
<strong>of</strong> the service and to highlight issues such as ‘informed consent’.<br />
Hargie<br />
· Grant <strong>of</strong> €162,183 received in March, 2009 from EU-FP7-SEC-2007-6.1-03 Communication Strategies for Public<br />
Authorities, for the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ulster</strong> part <strong>of</strong> a project entitled ‘Counter-Terrorism Crisis Communications<br />
Strategies for Recovery and Continuity’. This is a collaborative project involving HEIs in Israel, Germany, Bulgaria,<br />
Spain Greece and Northern Ireland. A total <strong>of</strong> €1.3 million has been awarded to this project.<br />
· Invited to be Keynote Speaker at the ECREA Conference in Tampere, Finland, in October, 2009.<br />
· Invited to submit a chapter on ‘Listening’ to the Sage Encyclopaedia <strong>of</strong> Human Relationships (2009), edited by<br />

· Currently engaged in a joint project with academics in the Faculties <strong>of</strong> Medicine at Queen’s <strong>University</strong>, Belfast<br />
and Monash <strong>University</strong>, Melbourne, in a comparative study <strong>of</strong> CST in Medical Schools in the UK, Australia and<br />
New Zealand. The first paper from this project in now in press with Medical Teacher.<br />
