We welcomed our sister schools from Seoul, Beijing and
Suzhou for two days of competition for the annual Dulwich
College Cup.
The athletics kicked off with an all inclusive cross country
around the grounds of DCS. Every student participated
in two running and two throwing events with the lead
changing hands regularly between Dulwich Beijing
and ourselves. There were some impressive afternoon
performances coming from Dulwich Beijing to win the
Athletics Cup over us. Some highlights for DCS were
Paula Drewes and Kate Szymanski winning the girls’ cross
country after falling over and being ill respectively. Jacob
French and Alex Luo both shone by out-jumping their PB’s
on the high jump.
Day 2 started early, with plenty of goals being scored on
both girls and boys pitches. The girls’ teams both enjoyed
their fair share of success, with the A team progressing
through to the final against Dulwich Seoul. This match
proved too tough for the team and Seoul took the gold
from us by one. The girls’ B team stepped up to every
game a ‘new team’, improving after every match to finish
runners-up in the plate final.
Over on the boys’ pitches, Mr. Pearson’s and Mr. Hanlon’s
teams both played well with Hiroshi Tan and Jack Rudolph-
Beijing
A team of over 70 students from both Junior and Senior
School at Dulwich College Shanghai travelled to Dulwich
College Beijing at the end of May for the annual Rugby/
Netball tournament.
Competition was tough with schools from as far afield as
Jeju (Korea), Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong in attendance. After
the first day of play five out of six of the Dulwich Shanghai
teams had earned their way into the cup competitions for
the final day of competition. Of the five teams reaching the
cup, Dulwich College Shanghai managed an impressive
two winners trophies, two runners-up trophies and one
third place, with the final Dulwich side winning the plate
competition. The U13 Rugby and U15 Netball sides were
both the winners in their respective division. Six Dulwich
College Shanghai team members were also nominated
All-Star players in their divisions.
