Near Orlock on the Bangor-Donaghadee coastal<br />

road. Portavoe Reservoir is run by Department<br />

of Culture, Arts and Leisure. This public fishery<br />

is stocked with rainbow trout (fly only). Rod<br />

licence and permit required. Restricted disabled<br />

access in <strong>North</strong> East end. For access to the<br />

disabled car park phone in advance.<br />

Shore Fishing<br />

Shore fishing is popular along the <strong>North</strong> <strong>Down</strong><br />

Coastal Path from various points including<br />

Ballymacormick Point, Eisenhower Pier, Grey<br />

Point Fort and Orlock Point in the summer<br />

(May-Oct) where the catch is great for<br />

mackerel, pollack, sea trout and mullet. In the<br />

quiet months (Nov-Apr) you may even catch<br />

whiting, codling or dogfish. For local advice,<br />

bait, tackle, and to purchase a fishing licence,<br />

Sea Angling<br />

Keen anglers are in for a treat during the<br />

summer months on Belfast Lough. Recent<br />

annual catches have reportedly been the best<br />

ever. Boat trips for non-anglers are also offered<br />

along our scenic coastline by the same skippers.<br />

Experienced local skipper Brian Meharg runs<br />

the Bangor Boat. Fishing trips depart from the<br />

Eisenhower Pier twice daily in July and August<br />

at 18.30 & 19.30 and weekends in autumn.<br />

Bird watching trips run in the Lough and to<br />

the Gobbins cliffs during the nesting season.<br />

Short sea cruises run from Pickie Funpark at<br />

weekends in May, June, September and daily<br />

July and August at 2pm. Additional fishing, bird<br />

watching and sightseeing trips run throughout<br />
