IST-1-507674-IP Organizers of the Session Valerie Moutal (European Commission) Angelos Amditis – ICCS (AIDE IP) Coordinator of the Session Valérie Moutal (European Commission) Session Description The integrated project AIDE (Adaptive Integrated Driver-vehicle InterfacE) is co funded by the European Commission and gathers all major vehicle manufacturers, the main European suppliers and Research Institutes. Its aim is to develop applicable methodologies and technologies towards the automotive Human Machine Interface (HMI) of the future, with a strong focus on HMI integration and adaptation. This requires a strongly interdisciplinary approach, involving human factors research as well technological development The present session provides an overview of the main results achieved by the first 2.5 years of the project. Results from studies on behavioral effects and from real-time monitoring of the driver-vehicle-environment will be presented. Evaluation methodology applied to real industry constraints and some principles behind the adaptive and integrated HMI solution developed will be explained to give the trend of the next generation of HMI in vehicles. Moderator and speakers The session will be moderated by the European Commission. High level Speakers from the AIDE project representing the Industry and the research community will present and will discuss the latest developments and the major issues associated to safety and integration of different tools in vehicles from the point of view of Human Machine Interface.
