Cold winter air can create havoc
for your poor skin and hair. So
it’s time to looking after yourself
during the coldest season of the
year. This will not only keep you looking
good now, but will prevent your skin from
aging prematurely. To fight with this chilly
season here are some winter tips to take
care of your hair and skin.
You may have found a moisturizer that
works just fine in spring and summer,
but for winters extra care is essential.
Find an "ointment" moisturizer that's oilbased,
rather than water-based, as the oil
will create a protective layer on the skin.
Also for winters sunscreen is essential,
winter sun -- combined with snow glare
-- can still damage your skin. Try applying
a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your
face and your hands about 30 minutes
before going outside. If your facial skin is
uncomfortably dry, use a cleansing milk
or mild foaming cleanser, a toner with
no alcohol, and masks that are "deeply
hydrate." One of the biggest problems
during winter is chapped lips. Use a lip
55
balm with at least SPF 15 or one with tea
tree oil, which helps heal painful cracks.
Your hands, feet, knees and elbows need
to be looked after too, during winter. Also
try use products that contain Shea butter,
petrolatum, mineral oil, tea tree oil or
glycerin. For intense relief, moisturize
hands and feet at night, and then slip on
gloves or socks to lock in the moisture. For
hair, keep them covered with scarf or stroll
also you can apply lukewarm oil for just 1
hour and wash them, this keeps your hair
moisturize and manageable
Homemade items are highly trusted as it
is pure and fresh. Even in it is believed in
India everyone is Doctor because India is
a land of herbs and medicines.
Firstly, Rub on some olive, almond or
coconut oil and massage lightly on to your
hands, legs and the rest of your body before
heading for a shower. If time permits, heat
the oil and then apply. Curd makes for an
excellent skin hydrant, and its antioxidant,
anti-inflammatory properties will help
soothe your dry, itchy skin. Apply curd just
as it is or mix it with some honey and a few
drops of lime.
Leave it on for at least 10 minutes before you
wash it off. It is sure to do wonders for your
skin. Honey helps lock in moisture, has
antioxidant and anti-microbial properties,
which makes it a sought after ingredient in
many over-the-counter skincare products.
Lightly heat 2 tsp. of honey any apply it
onto your skin. Leave it on for 15 minutes,
and then wash it off. After bath, slice a piece
of aloe, squeeze all the gel out and apply
onto your face, hands or legs. It will not
only moisturise your skin, it will also form
a protective layer that will keep impurities
from entering your pores. Although aloe is
a good skin hydrant, it can leave your skin
feeling tight. Keep aside a 4 tsp. of raw milk
before you put it to boil for your morning
coffee/tea. Add a few drops of rose water/
lime and rub it all over your body and
wash with cold water. Do this twice a day.
And your skin will feel baby soft. Glycerin
helps absorb and retain moisture. Mix a
teaspoon of glycerin with a few drops of
lime and massage onto your skin. Leave
it on for a few minutes before you wash it
off. Coconut milk not only reduces skin
dryness, but also helps combat dark spots
and blemishes. Rub it onto your face and
body, and leave it overnight.
