HAIDER WINS
PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
A
fter getting lots of appreciations from Indian critics and audience now
Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider won the People’s Choice Award in the Mondo
Genre (world genre) at the ninth edition of Rome Film Festival. Haider
also had an Italian premiere October 24. "It truly affirms our belief that good
cinema can transcend boundaries and this award puts Haider on the global
map,” Amrita Pandey, vice president and head of marketing and distribution -
Studios, Disney India, said in a statement.
Out of the seven films like A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (US), Quando Eu
Era Vivo/ When I Was Alive (Brazil) and La Prochaine Fois Je Viserai Le Coeur/
Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart (France), which featured under the genre,
Haider was the only Asian film selected across the globe.
This is for the first time that an Indian film has won the audience award in a nonspecialized
(non-focused on Asian cinema) wide-ranging international festival.
For Bhardwaj, it is a proud moment. “Haider’ is a classic Shakespearean tale
retold with Kashmir in India as its backdrop, it’s a story that we would like to
take to the world and to get this award now is a proud moment for the entire
team of Haider,” said Bhardwaj. "It’s a moment of immense pride that the movie
has got this award at the festival,” said Shahid, who plays the title role.
ANURAG TO DO A HOLLYWOOD FILM
T
here are few Directors in Bollywood Film industry with whom
every actor wants to work with, and Anurag Kashyap is one
of them, and now his talent has reached to international
boundaries.
Anurag will now do
a Hollywood film
whose scripting is on
beginning stage. The
film is supposed to be
dark crime thriller with
big budget but Anurag is
refused to say any further
details. The film will go
on floor in July next year
and will be produced by
a western studio and it
will be extensively shot
abroad.
Right now he is working
on Ranbir kapoor,
Anushka Sharma starrer Bombay Velvet which will supposed to be
release in May 2015. The film which is based on Bombay in the 60s
has gone on floor and almost half of the film has been completed.

films are for entertainment and not to
spread awareness. Saif Ali Khan starrer Happy Ending along with stars Ileana
D'Cruz, Kalki Koechlin, in which he also co-produces with his partner Dinesh
Vijan and Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. Saif is also working on
Kabir Khan directorial Phantom starring Katrina Kaif.
