Holy Cross <strong>Church</strong>, Deerfield, <strong>IL</strong> RE-VISION THE SPIRIT: A FRESH LOOK AT SPIRITUALITY<br />

On Saturday, Feb.4, parishioner Frank LaFasto, Ph.D., internationally known author,<br />

speaker and team builder, returns to Holy Cross <strong>Church</strong> in Deerfield to share “A Fresh View on<br />

Living with Spirit: The Humanitarian Leader in Each of Us.” Dr. La Fasto will challenge us to live<br />

with spirit by helping us find The Humanitarian Leader in Each of Us (the title of his latest book).<br />

The Spirit leads one out of the self and toward others and service.<br />

Dr. LaFasto has spent the last six years doing research around the world and has distilled seven<br />

choice points in life that enable one to make a difference in the world.<br />

This event takes place in the Holy Cross Community Room, 724 Elder Lane, (Waukegan<br />

Road, 2 blocks north of Deerfield Road) on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.,<br />

beginning with prayer and gourmet breakfast. After the presentation, anyone interested in<br />

continuing the conversation is welcome to stay and talk. All adults are welcome; suggested<br />

donation $20. Donations will be given to the Deerfield Food Pantry. Please R.S.V.P. to the Holy<br />

Cross Pastoral Center, 847-945-0430 by Wednesday, Feb. 1.<br />

Eucharistic Holy Hour and Benediction<br />

Friday, February 3rd, 3:30-4:30 pm — Old <strong>Church</strong><br />

This coming Friday, we at <strong>St</strong>. <strong>Patrick</strong> accept Jesus’ invitation to meet with Him in our Old<br />

<strong>Church</strong> from 3:30-4:30 pm. And what a “get-together” that is: Jesus leaving the confines<br />

of the tabernacle and placing himself front and center on the altar sharing his thoughts<br />

with us and, we, our thoughts with Him. Come and join your fellow parishioners.<br />

MEN’S GROUP — FIR<strong>ST</strong> FRIDAY MASS<br />

The Men’s Group invites all men of the parish to attend First Friday Mass, on February 3rd, at<br />

6:30 am in the Main <strong>Church</strong>. After Mass, a light breakfast will be served in the Parish Center.<br />

Connecting the Dots Spiritually with Dr. Kate Wiskus, M.A., D. Min<br />

Thursday, February 23rd 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.<br />

O’Gara Activity Center with Light Breakfast - $5<br />

Dr. Kate Wiskus, M.A., D. Min.<br />

Currently, Dr. Wiskus serves as Associate Dean of Formation and Faculty at University<br />

of Saint Mary of the <strong>Lake</strong>/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois. She teaches<br />

primarily pastoral life courses such as Evangelization and Catechesis, Pastoral Care in<br />

Multiple-Parish Situations, Theological Reflection, and Pastoral Leadership.<br />

This Lenten presentation will be preceded by a light breakfast of coffee and bagels. We are asking for a<br />

donation of $5. You may donate at the door. Breakfast will be served from 9:30-10:00, and Dr. Kate<br />

Wiskus will begin her presentation at 10:00 a.m.<br />
