CONVENTION 2011
Garden club members from across the state
traveled to Richmond in May 2011 to participate
in the annual VFGC Convention. Highlights of the
convention were:
• Design program and workshop by John
Klingel (pictured at right)
• Election of Officers for 2011-2013
• Installation of Officers by NGC President,
Renee Blaschke
• Installation Design Tribute, “Wonderfully
Unique” by Julia Clevett
• Tea at the Governor’s Mansion
• Awards Presentation
• Shoppers Venue
Under the leadership of VFGC President Elene
Combs, the convention delegates considered the report of the VFGC Special Committee
on Conventions and approved the recommendations submitted to hold a biennial
convention in the election year and a one day VFGC Meeting in alternate years; that
VFGC would host and plan their own conventions and meetings; and that conventions
be held in a central location in the
state. This change will start iwth the
2011-2013 administration.
