WHAT THE EU NEEDS TO DO! - Action for Global Health

2008 was marked by an unprecedented degree of global
action on development, including a turning point in the EU’s
joint efforts to eradicate poverty through sustainable
development.
Support for accelerating progress on the MDGs was bolstered
at the Accra High Level Meeting on Aid Effectiveness and
the New York UN High Level Event on 25 September 2008,
as well as through the adoption of the EU Agenda for Action
on MDGs (European Council, June 2008).
The EU’s commitments on the provision of Official
Development Assistance (ODA) of a collective target of
0.56% of Gross National Income (GNI) by 2010 and 0.7% by
2015 were reaffirmed at the Doha Conference on Financing
for Development in November 2008.
