<strong>Christian</strong> Theology<br />
Dr. John D. Castelein was born in France, raised in Belgium, <strong>and</strong> became an<br />
American citizen in 1984. He attended Johnson Bible College <strong>and</strong> graduated from<br />
<strong>Lincoln</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> College in 1970. He earned an M.A. in Theology <strong>and</strong> an M. Div.<br />
(major in theology) from <strong>Lincoln</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> Seminary in 1977. He received the<br />
Ph.D. in Theology in 1988 from the Divinity School of the <strong>University</strong> of Chicago.<br />
Dr. Castelein taught at LCC in the areas of theology <strong>and</strong> the IDS program from<br />
1977 until 1992. He started teaching in the Seminary in the area of Contemporary<br />
Theology in 1992. Dr. Castelein has had ministries in Indiana, Illinois, <strong>and</strong> Genk,<br />
Belgium. He was the preacher at the historic <strong>Lincoln</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> Church from<br />
2001-2006. He has contributed articles <strong>and</strong> book reviews in <strong>Christian</strong> St<strong>and</strong>ard,<br />
Lookout, Leaven, Stone-Campbell Journal, Evangelical Dictionary of Theology<br />
(revised 2001), Restoration Herald, <strong>and</strong> Journal of Religion <strong>and</strong> Health, as well<br />
as lessons for The St<strong>and</strong>ard Lesson Commentary. He has contributed essays to<br />
Essentials of <strong>Christian</strong> Faith, A Humble Defense, Taking Every Thought Captive,<br />
The Quest Study Bible, <strong>and</strong> Underst<strong>and</strong>ing Four Views on Baptism (edited by<br />
John H. Armstrong). He is married to the former Marie Cornett. The Casteleins<br />
enjoy traveling, movies, <strong>and</strong> exercising together. Dr. Castelein’s email address is<br />
