<strong>Annual</strong> Conference Report<br />
A total of 269 participants descended on<br />
Bulgaria, Institute of Engineering Education<br />
the small coastal town of Marsascala, Malta<br />
Taiwan and Manipal Institute of Technology,<br />
in the middle of January 2006 to attend the<br />
India.<br />
<strong>Annual</strong> <strong>IAESTE</strong> A.s.b.l. Conference, the<br />
largest of its kind in recent years. Seventy<br />
six countries were represented at the week<br />
long Conference which was held in the Jerma<br />
Mr Pace Balzan concluded the proceedings<br />
by inviting a local brass band to entertain the<br />
delegates.<br />

for Competitiveness and Communication in<br />
Malta.<br />
The Minister explained how valuable<br />
<strong>IAESTE</strong> ANNUAL REVIEW 2006<br />
The Opening Ceremony took place in the<br />
Conference Hotel on Saturday 21 January<br />
2006. Mr Mark Pace Balzan who acted as<br />
Master of Ceremonies welcomed everyone<br />
to the <strong>Annual</strong> Conference and invited the<br />
President of the Association, Mr Lucien<br />
Seywert to address the delegates.<br />
The President congratulated the Members<br />
on the formation of <strong>IAESTE</strong> A.s.b.l. and<br />
<strong>IAESTE</strong> was given the interdependent<br />
world in which we live in today and that the<br />
networking service provided by <strong>IAESTE</strong> is<br />
particularly important as it offers all students<br />
the possibility to become more familiar<br />
with different regional realities around the<br />
world through fi rst hand contact. He wished<br />
everyone an enjoyable stay in Malta and a<br />
successful Conference.<br />
The General Secretary then gave her report<br />
on the events of 2005 and thanked <strong>IAESTE</strong><br />
Malta for all the preparations they had made<br />
to host the week long Conference. She<br />
welcomed the Vice President for Education<br />
from FISITA, Professor Matti Juhala and<br />
introduced delegates from the new Cooperating<br />
Institutions who were attending<br />
the Conference for the fi rst time. Uni-Group,<br />
During the Conference a total of 7412<br />
offers were exchanged among the Full<br />
and Associate Members and Co-operating<br />
Institutions with several exchanging with over<br />
50 different countries. Mentoring Sessions<br />
were arranged for all new participants as<br />
well as training sessions on our IntraWeb<br />
organised by members of the IDT (Internet<br />
Development Team). Mr Kim Jensen, IDT<br />
Co-ordinator gave his report on the work<br />
of IDT and informed the delegates that after<br />
