Following the recent launch of the Harper Army National 

Guard Scholarship Fund, Flexographic Trade Services (FTS) 

has launched a website dedicated to their scholarship programs, 

www.FTSHarperScholarshipFund.com. 

“Having identified how important the military scholarship 

program is I felt that it was vital that we have the best possible 

platform that would allow us to continuously update our 

progress to all participants and sponsors alike by the addition 

of this focused website,” said FTS founder Art Fields.“Not only 

is this site dedicated to the new Harper 

Army National Guard Scholarship Fund, 

it is also dedicated to the Ron & 

Katherine Harper Scholarship Fund.The 

website will allow us to highlight both our 

army student’s and regular student’s backgrounds and skill set 

as well as their graduation timeline.” 

According to FTS, potential employers will be able to not only 

identify potential future employees through the website, but 

will be able to interview the students by phone or in person. 

Flexographic Trade Services will host an Open House that 

will begin on August 9 with a shotgun golf tournament and 

will continue through August 12. The actual Open House will 

take place Tuesday,August 12, at FTS’ Fort Mills, South Carolina, 

facility. 

The Open House will showcase Mark Andy’s newest Performance 

Series P5 Press, Martin Automatic’s rewind tension control 

equipment and AzTECH Converting Systems’ dual spindle 

slitter/rewinder, plus other equipment and products from its 

many vendor sponsors.

EskoArtwork Reports 

Strong Ipex 2010 

EskoArtwork has reported its successful participation 

in Ipex 2010, held from May 18-25 in Birmingham, 

England. Lead generation far exceeded 

expectations and a good amount of sales were closed 

on the stand.There were also significant investments 

closed with customers from the Middle East, Eastern 

Europe and India — for complete hardware and software 

configurations. 

On display was a CDI Advance Cantilever 1450, providing 

in the round flexo sleeves for the flexible 

packaging market and the HD Flexo technology for 

the production of plates and sleeves delivering printing 

quality comparable to offset or gravure, according 

to the company, as well as the Inline UV Main 

Exposure and the Digital Flexo Suite for optimized 

and automated plate and sleeve production. 

Graphics Of The Americas 

Opens Call For Speakers 

The Printing Association of Florida, producer of the 

annual Graphics of the Americas (GOA) Expo & Conference, 

is accepting speaker submissions now 

through July 31 for next year’s event. GOA 2011 is 

being held in Orlando, Florida, on February 24-26, 

2011 at the Orange County Convention Center 

(North Hall). 

Proposals may be inspirational, practical, or both; and 

should derive from the speaker’s first-hand knowledge 

and experience. All proposals are subject to review 

and are selected based on relevance. Presentations of a 

commercial nature, or promoting a particular product 

or platform, will not be considered.

RotoMetrics Expands Investment In Asia, 

Plans To Manufacture In Thailand 

RotoMetrics, St. Louis, Missouri, is expanding its investment 

in Asia with plans to add a manufacturing 

facility to complete its full-service location in 

Bangkok,Thailand. 

RotoMetrics SE Asia opened in Thailand in March 

2009 with sales and repair support. Now, the addition 

of a manufacturing capacity means Bangkok will 

become RotoMetrics’ fifth full-service facility, spanning 

four continents – Asia, Australia, Europe and 

North America.The initiative to implement manufacturing 

at RotoMetrics SE Asia is already underway and 

production is expected to begin later this year.

Fraser Papers Signs Agreement 

To Sell New Hampshire Paper Mill 

Fraser Papers Inc.,Toronto, Ontario, announced that 

its subsidiary Fraser N.H. LLC, has reached an agreement 

to sell substantially all of its assets to an investment 

fund managed by MerchantBanc, LLC, of 

Manchester, New Hampshire. Financial terms of the 

transaction were not disclosed. 

The paper mill in Gorham, New Hampshire, currently 

operates three paper machines and produced 80,000 

tons of uncoated freesheet papers and 37,000 tons of 

towel products in 2009.The transaction is expected to 

close in late July and is subject to approval of the Ontario 

Superior Court of Justice and the United States 

Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. 

Sekuworks Unveils New 

Tamper Void Tapes 

Sekuworks LLC, a brand protection and security 

company based in Harrison, Ohio, has introduced the 

Sekulock line of self wound tamper indicating void 

tapes that also provides anti-counterfeit and tracking 

features. Custom tapes adding multi-colored graphics 

and additional security features are available. 

Sekulock self wound poly tape, designed to work 

with automatic or hand held tape gun dispensers, 

provides secure container closure and tamper void 

indication on a variety of packaging substrates. The 

high resolution security print, not available from 

other security tape products, includes guilloche patterns, 

visible micro text and covert UV micro text 

viewable under black light. Alpha/numeric 

code aids in documentation of each use 

and spaced at 9” intervals for use as an envelope 

seal. 

Polyprint Expands Flexo 

Capacity With New Press 

Mailing bags and food packaging specialist 

Polyprint Mailing Films has started production 

on a newly installed Uteco flexo press. 

Polyprint, which is based at Rackheath 

near Norwich, UK, installed the Onyx Central 

Impression (CI) flexopress from Italian 

manufacturer Uteco in April. 

It is the company's second eight-color 

Onyx press from Uteco. 

The press is capable of printing 800mm 

repeat, with a print width of up to 

1200mm. It can take reels up to 800mm diameter 

and has an automatic air recirculation 

system.

Clemson’s New Sonoco Institute 

Karlville Development, manufacturer and 

distributor of shrink sleeve converting and

partnered with Clemson University’s New 

Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and

Graph Expo 2010 Adds Print Buyer Program 

To Full Slate Of Educational Seminars 

GRAPH EXPO 2010 has announced that it will feature 

a full slate of educational seminars when the graphic 

communication exhibition opens this fall, October 3–6 

in Chicago’s McCormick Place. Among the highlights

Flexo Concepts’ Growth Prompts 

Move To 30 Percent Larger Facility 

Flexo Concepts has relocated its manufacturing operation 

and corporate offices to a larger facility in 

Plymouth, Massachusetts. The new building provides 

30 percent more space and consolidates all aspects 

of production under one roof. 

Growth of the company’s base TruPoint doctor 

blade business, the acquisition of MicroClean in 

2005 and a new line of press-side cleaning chemicals 

have contributed to the need for more space. Flexo 

Concepts recently beefed up staff levels in its sales, 

engineering, telemarketing and customer service departments 

and had been occupying two separate, although 

neighboring, buildings since relocating its 

North Carolina operation to Plymouth last year. 

“We have had considerable success with our Micro- 

Clean anilox cleaning equipment since acquiring the 

line five years ago,” said Kevin McLaughlin, President 

of Flexo Concepts. “The technology is popular with 

printers looking for effective, automated cleaning 

without the use of water or chemicals.” 

The move took place over four days in early April 

with minimal disruption to the company’s manufacturing, 

shipping and customer service functions.The company 

shut down operations for only one day as 

planned, and business as usual resumed on April 12.All

Equitty Packaging 

Enters Liquidation 

Equitty Packaging, Melbourne,Australia, has entered 

liquidation and cut four of its 10 staff under a 

$380,000 debt owed to the Australian Tax Office. 

The flexo packaging printer went into liquidation 

with Andrew Yeo from insolvency practitioners Pitcher 

Partners on May 19, following a court order 

prompted by a petition from the ATO. 

Equitty’s equipment includes an eight-color flexographic 

printing press, which was purchased new by 

the company in November 2006. The company also 

houses eight high-speed slitting machines and two 

laminators. 

Equitty Packaging was founded by managing director 

Eric Quitt in 1993.The company expanded from 

its base in Sydney to open a Melbourne factory in 

1997, before moving to a purpose built 2,700 sqm 

factory in the suburb of West Sunshine in 2005. 

Asian Paper 2010 To Proceed 

On June 16-18 In Bangkok 

The Asian Paper 2010 Exhibition and Conference 

for the Pulp, Paper and Board industry in Asia will go 

ahead during June 16-18 in Bangkok. The latest reports 

are that things have quickly returned to normal 

after the political chaos which had gripped the city, 

according to organizers.Traffic is reportedly back on 

the streets and shops, hotels and public transportation 

are all open again. The area surrounding the 

venue, the Queen Sirikit Center where Asian Paper 

will take place, has been untouched by the unrest. 

Thus the show organizers UBM Asia, in consultation 

with other groups including the Thai Pulp and Paper 

Industry Association, have decided that it is best to 

go ahead with the event. Many other big shows 

scheduled in Bangkok in June are also going ahead.
