Artists snapped up
Elizabeth Saunders and Daniel Swart
were some of the Cerebral Palsy
League artists on display during
Rotary Art Spectacular. Their pieces
quickly sold to eager art enthusiasts
visiting the exhibition. Both Elizabeth
and Daniel are part of the art
program at the Redcliffe day service.
Hitting the pavement
Hannah Kernohan’s father Steven
has been busy fundraising for the
Cerebral Palsy League. Steven
is competing in the Gold Coast
Marathon (30 June - 1 July) and has
already raised more than $10,000.
Hannah, 4, visits the Brendale
office for speech, occupational and
physiotherapy. To support Steven in

Erin Brockovich visit
Cerebral Palsy League customers
and friends got the chance to listen
to and meet hard-working advocate
Erin Brockovich at New Farm.
Erin spoke about her experience
campaigning for important causes,
the movie which gave her an
international profile and she also
listened to advocacy stories from the
audience regarding the NDIS. Jeanne
Lavallee enjoyed chatting to Erin on
the day.
Kevin Rudd drops by
Member for Griffith, Kevin Rudd,
checked out the south-side Screech
Theatre Group’s May performance,
Let’s Imagine. The musical
performance was developed over 12
weeks and showcased singing and
dancing by young people with and
without disabilities. Elijah Spall is
pictured with Mr Rudd.
Better Start for kids
Three-year-old Aedan Harris has
received a special bodysuit (called
TheraTogs) to help improve his
stability and mobility by engaging
muscles around his hip joint and
trunk. The suit will make it easier
for Aedan to sit at meal time and
while playing with his toys. He is
pictured alongside Hervey Bay
physiotherapist Ciara Shouldice.
Funding for the suit came from the
government’s Better Start program
which assists children up to six.

Beef Week visit
The Cerebral Palsy League
had an information stall at
Rockhampton’s Beef Week in
May to increase the profile of
the Cerebral Palsy League and
raise vital funds for customers.
The massive event attracts more
than 75,000 local, interstate
and international visitors every
three years. Rockhampton staff
helped man the stall along with
Stuart Fitzpatrick (Fundraising)
and Victoria Andrews (Marketing
and Communications). They are
pictured with Helena Kidd, who
utilises services such as supported
accommodation.
Sounds and Sizzle
The Cerebral Palsy League’s
Redcliffe day service hosted a
highly entertaining Sounds and
Sizzle event in April. The day
included interactive art workshops,
live music, a sausage sizzle and
a V8 race car was on display.
Shannon Howard, Chris Townsley
and Dillon Carlsson got into the
festivities.
Volunteers recognised
National Volunteer Week was
celebrated at New Farm with
a high tea to thank our tireless
volunteers. Bali bombing survivor
Andrew Csabi was a special
guest speaker and he is flanked
by Volunteer Services Manager
Natalie Searson, and volunteer,
Jacqui Wachtel.
Art show dazzles
Ambassador Heather Foord and
CEO Angela Tillmanns, checked
out the beautiful art on display at
the 2012 Rotary Art Spectacular, of
which the Cerebral Palsy League
was a charity of choice. The 10
day exhibition was held in the
Riverside Centre.
Showing their support
Cerebral Palsy League supporters
were out in force at Rotary
Art Spectacular in April. Sarah
Vallance and Wendy Nixson from
Shine Lawyers admired artworks
from more than 150 contributing
artists, featuring well-known
names as well as emerging talents.
