Advising/Degree Requirements<br />
For students admitted Fall 2013, a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Fine <strong>Arts</strong><br />
(BFA) or Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Music (BMus) from <strong>Cornish</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> consists <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following basic requirements. Please<br />
see <strong>the</strong> <strong>Cornish</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Catalog or www.cornish.<br />
edu for a more detailed breakdown <strong>of</strong> degree requirements.<br />
If <strong>the</strong> degree requirements change during <strong>the</strong> time you are<br />
enrolled at <strong>Cornish</strong>, you may choose to complete a degree<br />
under <strong>the</strong> new requirements or elect to continue under those<br />
in effect at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> your initial enrollment. You may not<br />
combine provisions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> two programs.<br />

To ensure graduation within four years and timely<br />
progression in class standing, students should complete at<br />
least 30-33 credits each year and closely follow <strong>the</strong> model<br />
program listed in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Cornish</strong> Catalog. Class level is based<br />
on a student’s total (career) earned credits:<br />
Additionally, <strong>the</strong> Assistant Registrar will review students’<br />
degree progress each summer and make updates to Degree<br />
Audits, which are available to you on Compass at any time<br />
in order to detail your progress toward completion <strong>of</strong> degree<br />
requirements.<br />
Freshman 0 – 29 credits<br />
Sophomore 30 – 59 credits<br />
Junior 60 – 89 credits<br />
Senior 90+ credits<br />

The Degree Audit indicates course requirements that you<br />
have completed, course requirements in progress, and<br />
requirements still to be completed.<br />
The <strong>College</strong> website will have <strong>the</strong> most current model<br />
program for your area <strong>of</strong> study. The Department Chair will<br />
serve as advisor or appoint a faculty member in that<br />
capacity. In addition to meeting with students before<br />
advance registration, <strong>the</strong> advisor is <strong>the</strong>re to answer any<br />
questions regarding degree requirements and academic<br />
progress. Students are also encouraged to make a yearly<br />
appointment with <strong>the</strong> Assistant Registrar in <strong>the</strong> Registration<br />
& Records Office to discuss <strong>the</strong>ir academic progress.<br />
It is most easily understood when read in conjunction with<br />
<strong>the</strong> description <strong>of</strong> your Model Program as detailed in <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>Cornish</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> Catalog and on <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
