Item Landscape and Biodiversity Management Strategy 6 MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 6.1 Objectives The landscape and biodiversity management objectives are: • To conserve the retained trees as a landscape amenity feature in the longer term. • Promote wildlife habitat. • To ensure as far as reasonable the safety of site users and third parties. • To enhance the landscape value of the site. 6.2 Responsibilities The communal and public open space areas will maintained by Crest Nicholson Operations Limited and CGNU Life Assurance Limited landscape contractor, until completion when the responsibility for landscape maintenance will be handed over to a Management Company. Developer • Crest Nicholson Operations Limited and CGNU Life Assurance Limited will appoint the Management Company for the development. Landscape Contractor • Maintain all non-private areas of soft landscaping until handover to the Management Company. • Replace any failed trees, shrubs or grass that occur during the maintenance period. Ecological Consultant • Undertake monitoring of habitat created and managed for protection and valued species. Management Company • Maintain the hard and soft landscaping to the flats. • Maintain the hard and soft landscaping of public open space (POS) areas. • Replace any failed trees, shrubs or grass that occur during the first five years of maintenance. Landscape Architect • Undertake site audits of the soft landscaping for the Developer up to completion and handover to the Management Company. • Attend the review if required by the Local Planning Authority before the end of the five year period. • Revise the LMP if required following the review. Arboricultural Consultant • Undertake a condition survey of all trees at the end of the five year period. 9
