<strong>The</strong> cast has been announced for April de Angelis’s new play <strong>Jumpy</strong> at the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre from 13 October (press night 19 October). Tamsin<br />

Greig, playing Hilary is joined by Doon Mackichan as her best friend Francis.<br />

A mother, a wife, and fifty, Hilary once protested at Greenham. Now her protests tend to focus<br />

on persuading her teenage daughter to go out fully clothed.<br />

A frank and funny family drama questioning parental anxieties and life after fifty.<br />

Tamsin Greig plays Hilary. Her theatre credits include <strong>The</strong> Little Dog Laughed in the<br />

West End, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award, Gethsemane at the<br />

National <strong>The</strong>atre, <strong>The</strong> God of Carnage in the West End. She played Beatrice in Much Ado<br />

About Nothing at the RSC for which she won Olivier and Critics’ Circle Awards. On film,<br />

her credits include Tamara Drewe and Cuckoo and on television, she has most recently<br />

starred in Episodes and Channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner. Her previous credits include Black<br />

Books, Green Wing, Love Soup and the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma. On radio,<br />

she plays the part of Debbie Aldridge in Radio 4’s <strong>The</strong> Archers.<br />

Seline Hizli plays Lyndsey. Her credits include BBC’s <strong>The</strong> Land Girls, in which she made<br />

her TV debut. Richard Lintern plays Roland. His most recent credits include As You<br />

Desire Me at the Playhouse and the Duchess of Malfi at the RSC.<br />

Doon Mackichan plays Francis, Hilary’s best friend. She last appeared at the <strong>Royal</strong><br />

<strong>Court</strong> in <strong>The</strong> Queen and I. Her theatre credits include <strong>The</strong> Government Inspector at Young<br />

Vic, Loot at the Tricycle and Boeing Boeing in the West End. She also wrote and<br />

performed Primadoona at the Edinburgh Festival last year. She is well known for her<br />

comedy work; she co-wrote and performed in the double Emmy Award-winning Smack<br />

the Pony on Channel 4. Her other comedy work includes Chris Morris’ <strong>The</strong> Day Today<br />

and Brass Eye and Knowing Me, Knowing You With Alan Partridge.<br />

Michael Marcus plays Cam. He has recently graduated from Bristol Old Vic <strong>The</strong>atre<br />

School. James Musgrave plays Josh. His credits include Wanderlust at the <strong>Royal</strong><br />

<strong>Court</strong> and on television, he appeared in the Channel 4 adaptation of Any Human Heart.<br />

Bel Powley plays Hilary’s daughter Tilly. She last appeared at the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong> in Tusk<br />

Tusk. She is currently appearing in on Broadway playing the leading role of Thomasina in<br />

Tom Stoppard's Arcadia directed by David Leveaux until June 20<strong>11</strong>.<br />

Ewan Stewart plays Hilary’s husband Mark. His theatre credits include Much Ado About<br />

Nothing at Shakespeare’s Globe, Beautiful Burnout for the National <strong>The</strong>atre of Scotland,<br />

Sergeant Musgrave's Dance and Major Barbara at the National <strong>The</strong>atre. He previously<br />

appeared at the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong> in Road..<br />

Sarah Woodward plays Josh’s mum Bea. Her credits include <strong>The</strong> Cherry Orchard at the<br />

National <strong>The</strong>atre and Snake in the Grass at <strong>The</strong> Print Room<br />

April De Angelis’ work at the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong> includes Wild East, Catch (a collaboration<br />

with four other female playwrights). Her credits elsewhere include Calais for Paines<br />

Plough, Country as part of the Terror Season at Southwark Playhouse, Playhouse Creature<br />

.and an adaptation of Wuthering Heights.<br />

Nina Raine directs. Both a writer and a director, her last play Tribes at the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong><br />

was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Play. She also directed Alia Bano’s Shades<br />

at the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong> in 2009, which went on to win Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle<br />

awards.<br />

Her other credits include Tiger Country at Hampstead <strong>The</strong>atre, which she both wrote<br />

and directed. She also directed her debut play Rabbit, which premiered at the Old Red<br />

Lion <strong>The</strong>atre in 2006 and transferred to the Trafalgar Studios in the West End, winning<br />

her the Charles Wintour Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright and<br />

the Critics’ Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright. Nina started her career at the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Court</strong> as a trainee director.<br />
