BASIC SEWING <br />

You will learn the basic sewing techniques with step-by-step<br />

demonstrations for straight stitching, zig-zag seams, patching,<br />

putting in zippers, blind-stitch hems, seam ripping, basic alterations,<br />

measuring and small projects. Later weeks make an apron, placemat,<br />

simple lap quilt or purse/totebag.<br />

KNIT IT TOO! <br />

This class is for the knitter with some experience. Students will<br />

gain more confidence practicing this fun and relaxing skill as<br />

they create projects using cables, circular knitting, and felting techniques.<br />

Bring one ball of any solid color Lily Sugar'n Cream yarn, and size 7<br />

knitting needles to the first class. A supply list for the remainder of the<br />

classes will be provided.<br />

SCRAPBOOKING, PAPER CRAFTING & MORE <br />

Join us in the Scrapbooking, Paper Crafting & More class. We will learn<br />

various parts of scrapbooking to include unique styles of paper crafting.<br />

The first project will be a paper bag album. It is very economical but<br />

adorable. Amaze your family & friends with what you can do with<br />

an everyday household item. Additional projects are planned for this<br />

session which will include a chipboard album, altered books and seasonal<br />

items. Kits will be available for each project. All you need to bring is<br />

a few pictures, your favorite adhesive, cutting system and any favorite<br />

embellishments. If you do not have tools some will be available to use<br />

in class. So, let’s get creative together! Have fun, meet new friends.<br />

This class will meet every other week on the dates listed below. The $10<br />

supply fee will include the supplies for the first project.<br />

ARTISTRY, DISCOVERY & EXPLORATION <br />

Infant and toddler exploration, discovery and artistry through fun<br />

sensory activities will be taught in this exciting class for parents<br />

and their young children. The adult will register for the class and their<br />

preschool children may attend with them at no additional charge.<br />

FIT CLUB FOR KIDS <br />

Students will participate in a variety of physical activities that are designed<br />

for all skill levels. Guest speakers from the community will be invited to<br />

speak to the class about health topics and share how being healthy helps<br />

them do their jobs. This course is geared toward children who want to be<br />

physically active with their peers without having to participate in a team<br />

sport. Healthy snacks will be provided at each class. Please wear athletic<br />

shoes and comfortable clothes. Be prepared to be outside if the weather<br />

permits. This is for students in grades 3-5.<br />

MUSIC TOGETHER <br />

This course helps parents to teach their children important music<br />

fundamentals and is appropriate for families with children ages 0-5.<br />

Studies have shown encouraging music in early childhood leads to higher<br />

verbal and mathematical scores in elementary school and beyond. This<br />

will be taught by Bethanne Thompson at the Children's Center. The<br />

course fee will include a CD of the songs we use in class. Bethanne has an<br />

Associate's in Education and 15 years of experience teaching music and<br />

education. The adult will register for the class and their preschool children<br />

may attend with them at no additional charge.<br />

KIDS CAKES <br />

Kids love to help in the kitchen. And now, kids can learn how to decorate<br />

like the pros with this cake decorating class designed especially for them!<br />

Michelle will teach them kid-friendly techniques to create a fabulous cake.<br />

A cake decorating supply kit that the child can keep is included in the<br />

course fee. Bring a cake and a can of Wilton decorators’ icing. A supply<br />

list of a few household items will be provided.<br />
