Registration Process<br />
<strong>Community</strong> Education courses are offered for non-credit. Charges associated with an<br />
individual course or event are based upon the direct cost of offering the course or event plus a<br />
35% administrative fee.<br />
Sweetwater County residents aged 60 years or over may enroll for courses offered at <strong>Western</strong><br />
with payment of tuition waived. Special fees for supplies or other costs remain the financial<br />
responsibility of each student, regardless of age, and cannot be waived. The <strong>College</strong> Board of<br />
Trustees reserves the right to change tuition and fees at any time.<br />

Thinking about taking your passion to the next level? Friends and family<br />
keep pressuring you to do their portraits? This is the class you need<br />
before, during and even after you have made that decision. This class<br />
will go over how to determine your pricing, how to create a workflow<br />
that keeps you behind the camera, not the computer, which organizations<br />
and memberships are an absolute must, what is a print competition and<br />

OUTDOOR DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY <br />
Outdoor Digital Photography is a great course for someone looking to<br />
take better landscape pictures. The course will cover photography basics,<br />
composition, and editing. Students are required to bring their own digital<br />
camera. All digital cameras are allowed, however a DSLR (such as Canon<br />
EOS Rebel or Nikon D300) is preferred.<br />

This class will go over basic photography skills that can improve<br />
your photography no matter what type of camera you have. While a<br />
digital SLR is recommended and will be discussed frequently, you can<br />
take some of the basic skills and apply them to your point and shoot<br />
camera. Students will be given assignments to work on outside of class<br />
that will be reviewed each following class. Having your camera manual<br />
and camera in class will aid in finding the functions discussed.<br />

This Cake Decorating Basics <strong>Course</strong> is the perfect place to start! Michelle,<br />
your Wilton method instructor, will show you the right way to decorate,<br />
step by step, so that you experience the excitement of successfully<br />
decorating your first cake. You’ll understand how to bake a great cake, see<br />
how to make and color icing and learn the best way to ice the cake. Along<br />
the way, you’ll learn to create icing drop flowers, rosettes, shells, pompom<br />
flowers, leaves, shaggy mums and the ribbon rose. You’ll also decorate<br />
cookies, cupcakes ... and of course cakes!<br />

Design is an intermediate class. In this class, you’ll explore sophisticated<br />
ways to bring your cakes and desserts to life! Michelle, your Wilton<br />
Method Instructor will teach you to create breathtaking icing flowers<br />
such as pansies, lilies, the rose, and many more. Then, you’ll discover<br />
the secrets of arranging them in a beautifully balanced cake-top bouquet.<br />
Your amazing flowers will be framed by an impressive border treatment or<br />

Gum Paste and Fondant is an intermediate cake decorating class. In this<br />
class, you will discover one of the most exciting and satisfying ways<br />
to decorate a cake. Michelle, your Wilton Method Instructor, will lead<br />
you every step of the way as you create amazing hand shaped flowers,<br />
beautiful borders and bold accents using these easy-to-shape icings. As<br />
you learn each technique – an artful bow, mum, rose, carnation, calla<br />
lily, rosebud, daisy and embellished borders – you’ll be closer to your<br />
crowning achievement: A Final <strong>Course</strong> Cake that displays your skills. A<br />

floral arrangements on wires, perfect for any occasion. Gum paste flowers<br />
include: stargazer lily, gerbera daisy, stephanotis, sweet pea, and many<br />
more! As a bonus, the class includes one day of fondant figurines where<br />
you will create cute little figurines out of fondant to adorn cakes, cupcakes,<br />

BASIC SEWING <br />
You will learn the basic sewing techniques with step-by-step<br />
demonstrations for straight stitching, zig-zag seams, patching,<br />
putting in zippers, blind-stitch hems, seam ripping, basic alterations,<br />
measuring and small projects. Later weeks make an apron, placemat,<br />
simple lap quilt or purse/totebag.<br />

This class is for the knitter with some experience. Students will<br />
gain more confidence practicing this fun and relaxing skill as<br />
they create projects using cables, circular knitting, and felting techniques.<br />

knitting needles to the first class. A supply list for the remainder of the<br />

SCRAPBOOKING, PAPER CRAFTING & MORE <br />
Join us in the Scrapbooking, Paper Crafting & More class. We will learn<br />
various parts of scrapbooking to include unique styles of paper crafting.<br />
The first project will be a paper bag album. It is very economical but<br />
adorable. Amaze your family & friends with what you can do with<br />
an everyday household item. Additional projects are planned for this<br />
session which will include a chipboard album, altered books and seasonal<br />
items. Kits will be available for each project. All you need to bring is<br />
a few pictures, your favorite adhesive, cutting system and any favorite<br />
embellishments. If you do not have tools some will be available to use<br />
in class. So, let’s get creative together! Have fun, meet new friends.<br />

TOOLS FOR MEDITATION <br />
Through subtle instruction and guidance, participants will be<br />
introduced to various forms of meditation practice. We will<br />
unveil some of the mystery behind meditation and discuss the science<br />

practice different techniques to enable participants to achieve a meditative<br />

EDUCATION Certification. Students must attend ALL classes and pass<br />
an exam to receive their certificate. All work is done in the classroom. An<br />

HUNTER EDUCATION INTERNET FIELD DAY & <br />
Hunter Education Internet Field Day classes are designed with busy adults<br />
in mind. To receive your Hunter Education card by taking the internet<br />
class you must first go to the <strong>Wyoming</strong> Game and Fish Department<br />
website and complete the online section of the class. Print all of your<br />
quizzes and bring those to your Internet Field Day course. You will<br />
take an entry quiz to be admitted to the class. After passing that you can<br />
complete the course and take the final exam. Pre-registration required!<br />
Enroll early; this class fills fast. Please bring your quizzes, a notebook and<br />
pen to class.<br />

<strong>Western</strong> <strong>Wyoming</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is planning<br />
trips to Broadway Across America in Salt Lake City,<br />
Utah. Spend a leisurely day with good company,<br />
good food, and outstanding entertainment. You<br />
may buy season tickets, individual theater tickets<br />
and bus tickets or take the bus for a leisurely day in<br />
Salt Lake City without attending the theater. The bus<br />
fee is $30 for each trip. You must purchase your<br />
theater tickets through Broadway in Utah or another<br />
source if you do not order the season tickets through<br />
<strong>Western</strong> <strong>Wyoming</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Please<br />
contact the <strong>Community</strong> Education Department to<br />
reserve a bus seat or for more information.<br />
