Member of Associations and Platforms: • Spain: PTC, ATC, AEC, AENOR, EUCAT. • International: EAPA. R&D: SMA asphalt mixtures. Asphalt mixtures with lower manufacturing temperature. Semi-warm mixtures. Warm-mix asphalt. Develop of bituminous binders for hot-mix asphalt and cold-mix asphalt. Modified and thermo-adhesive bitumen emulsions. Modified bitumen with used tyre rubber. Synthetic binders. Surface treatments with slurry surfacing. Resources devoted to R&D: 3 staff members hold a part-time dedication to R&D activities. ASEFMA’s Working Group nº 2 is devoted to R&D and includes 16 technicians from organizations associated to ASEFMA. ASEFMA has created - together with the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the Valdepeñas City Council and the Ciudad Real City Council - a foundation for the construction and devlopment of the “European Centre for Asphalt Technology, EUCAT”. This ambitious project has begun in 2011 and will include a 4,000 square-meter building located in the university campus of Ciudad Real and a 3-km test track and a testing machine simulation centre in Valdepeñas.
