Parish Mission Statement
We, the People of God, under the patronage
of Our Lady of the Assumption, are called to
be disciples of Jesus Christ.
As members of the Body of Christ,
gathering for worship around the Table of
Word and Sacrament, we commit ourselves
to love and support one another in faith, hope,
and love.
We are sent forth as apostles, in the power
of the Holy Spirit, to make the Good News
present and alive in our world through
evangelization and hospitality, healing
and service, education and the establishment
of justice.
Living Your Strengths
Alleluia! Christ is risen and is victorious over
sin and death! We are good stewards of our
faith if, like St. Paul, we share this good news
whenever and wherever we can.
Ministries of service
Many gifts of time and talent were offered in service to
enrich the worship spaces and liturgies of our Lenten, Holy
Week and Easter celebrations. We celebrate the
contribution of liturgy planners, lectors, hospitality ministers,
Eucharistic ministers, music minister, priests and deacons;
parish administrative and maintenance staff; Knights of
Columbus and OLA School students under Lena Kho who
produced Stations of the Cross; planners and presenters of
our Lenten workshops and parish mission; gardeners who
brought flowers and plants; the team under Mary Lou Butler
who executed successive environment changes; Uturn
Ministry coordination, cooks and servers at Lenten soup
meals; the families who made it possible for the volunteers
and staff to give their time; and especially our parish family
for joining in our time of preparation, remembrance and
celebration.

The Living Your Strengths workshops
took off in Lent with 90 parishioners signed
up for four weekly sessions on two days,
facilitated by Ann Brown, Tina Gutierrez,
Sharon Hueckel, Mary Jean Neault and
Stacey Weiner.
“Everyone involved seemed to have an
enjoyable and meaningful experience,” Ann
reports. “We all felt a particular grace in
interacting and learning from the old friends
and new friends who shared their time and
insights with us.”
All the participants took an online assessment
through Gallup Press, publishers of the
book used as a guide for the sessions. There
was an opportunity for personal reflection
and sharing in small and large groups about
how to live out of one’s strengths rather than
focusing on weaknesses.
Comments included – “life-changing,”
“well-organized,” “fun,” “encouraging,”
“a gift,” “helpful” and “perfect.”
Next up – two more workshops this year
during the summer and fall.
