Parish Mission Statement<br />
We, <strong>the</strong> People <strong>of</strong> God, under <strong>the</strong> patronage<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Our</strong> <strong>Lady</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Assumption</strong>, are called to<br />
be disciples <strong>of</strong> Jesus Christ.<br />
As members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Body <strong>of</strong> Christ,<br />
ga<strong>the</strong>ring for worship around <strong>the</strong> Table <strong>of</strong><br />
Word <strong>and</strong> Sacrament, we commit ourselves<br />
to love <strong>and</strong> support one ano<strong>the</strong>r in faith, hope,<br />
<strong>and</strong> love.<br />
We are sent forth as apostles, in <strong>the</strong> power<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit, to make <strong>the</strong> Good News<br />
present <strong>and</strong> alive in our world through<br />
evangelization <strong>and</strong> hospitality, healing<br />
<strong>and</strong> service, education <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> establishment<br />
<strong>of</strong> justice.<br />
Living Your Strengths<br />
Alleluia! Christ is risen <strong>and</strong> is victorious over<br />
sin <strong>and</strong> death! We are good stewards <strong>of</strong> our<br />
faith if, like St. Paul, we share this good news<br />
whenever <strong>and</strong> wherever we can.<br />
Ministries <strong>of</strong> service<br />
Many gifts <strong>of</strong> time <strong>and</strong> talent were <strong>of</strong>fered in service to<br />
enrich <strong>the</strong> worship spaces <strong>and</strong> liturgies <strong>of</strong> our Lenten, Holy<br />
Week <strong>and</strong> Easter celebrations. We celebrate <strong>the</strong><br />
contribution <strong>of</strong> liturgy planners, lectors, hospitality ministers,<br />
Eucharistic ministers, music minister, priests <strong>and</strong> deacons;<br />
parish administrative <strong>and</strong> maintenance staff; Knights <strong>of</strong><br />
Columbus <strong>and</strong> OLA School students under Lena Kho who<br />
produced Stations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cross; planners <strong>and</strong> presenters <strong>of</strong><br />
our Lenten workshops <strong>and</strong> parish mission; gardeners who<br />
brought flowers <strong>and</strong> plants; <strong>the</strong> team under Mary Lou Butler<br />
who executed successive environment changes; Uturn<br />
Ministry coordination, cooks <strong>and</strong> servers at Lenten soup<br />
meals; <strong>the</strong> families who made it possible for <strong>the</strong> volunteers<br />
<strong>and</strong> staff to give <strong>the</strong>ir time; <strong>and</strong> especially our parish family<br />
for joining in our time <strong>of</strong> preparation, remembrance <strong>and</strong><br />
celebration.<br />
– Bob Steighner, OLA Liturgy Coordinator<br />
The Living Your Strengths workshops<br />
took <strong>of</strong>f in Lent with 90 parishioners signed<br />
up for four weekly sessions on two days,<br />
facilitated by Ann Brown, Tina Gutierrez,<br />
Sharon Hueckel, Mary Jean Neault <strong>and</strong><br />
Stacey Weiner.<br />
“Everyone involved seemed to have an<br />
enjoyable <strong>and</strong> meaningful experience,” Ann<br />
reports. “We all felt a particular grace in<br />
interacting <strong>and</strong> learning from <strong>the</strong> old friends<br />
<strong>and</strong> new friends who shared <strong>the</strong>ir time <strong>and</strong><br />
insights with us.”<br />
All <strong>the</strong> participants took an online assessment<br />
through Gallup Press, publishers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
book used as a guide for <strong>the</strong> sessions. There<br />
was an opportunity for personal reflection<br />
<strong>and</strong> sharing in small <strong>and</strong> large groups about<br />
how to live out <strong>of</strong> one’s strengths ra<strong>the</strong>r than<br />
focusing on weaknesses.<br />
Comments included – “life-changing,”<br />
“well-organized,” “fun,” “encouraging,”<br />
“a gift,” “helpful” <strong>and</strong> “perfect.”<br />
Next up – two more workshops this year<br />
during <strong>the</strong> summer <strong>and</strong> fall.
