• The Khmer Youth Association has organised a series of camps to bring young people from<br />

different communes together to discuss and resolve obstacles <strong>for</strong> building youth solidarity.<br />

• VBNK has been using community conversation techniques to conduct trans-generational<br />

dialogues around issues of development, such as youth and employment, migration and<br />

balancing ‘modern’ and traditional values.<br />

• The World Bank has been promoting the use of community conversations in Cambodia, with<br />

the aim of improving levels of governance and accountability. Their approach includes providing<br />

communities with tools and training in social accountability in order to develop and improve<br />

civil society and its ability to act as a check on the state.<br />

• The Access to Justice Project has been using community conversations to facilitate conversations<br />

with communities <strong>about</strong> <strong>domestic</strong> <strong>violence</strong> with the aim of breaking the silence around<br />

<strong>domestic</strong> <strong>violence</strong> and helping communities to identify what support and resources are available<br />

to victims of <strong>domestic</strong> <strong>violence</strong>.<br />

This document describes the work UNDP and the village facilitators have been doing and provides<br />

guidelines <strong>for</strong> conducting successful conversations.<br />
