Section Achievement Award<br />

The Section Achievement Award recognizes<br />

ACD Sections for effective projects<br />

and activities in areas such as pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

education, public education, or<br />

community service. The 2011 recipient<br />

is <strong>the</strong> New York Section, recognized for<br />

teaching and promoting ethics at three<br />

New York dental schools: Columbia University,<br />

New York University, and State<br />

University <strong>of</strong> New York at Stony Brook.<br />

Section Newsletter Award<br />

Effective communication is a prerequisite<br />

for a healthy Section. The Section<br />

Newsletter Award is presented to an ACD<br />

Section in recognition <strong>of</strong> outstanding<br />

achievement in <strong>the</strong> publication <strong>of</strong> a<br />

Section newsletter. The award is based<br />

on overall quality, design, content, and<br />

technical excellence <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> newsletter.<br />

The Florida Section and <strong>the</strong> Tennessee<br />

Section are <strong>the</strong> 2011 co-winners.<br />

Model Section Designation<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Model Section<br />

program is to encourage Section<br />

improvement by recognizing Sections<br />

that meet minimum standards <strong>of</strong><br />

performance in four areas: Membership,<br />

Section Projects, ACD Foundation<br />

Support, and Commitment and<br />

Communication. This year’s Designation<br />

goes to <strong>the</strong> British Columbia Section.<br />

Lifetime Achievement Award<br />

The Lifetime Achievement Award is<br />

presented to a Fellow who has been a<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>College</strong> for 50 years.<br />

This recognition is supported by <strong>the</strong><br />

Dr. Samuel D. Harris Fund <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ACD<br />
