Re: Interim rates for wholesale residential and business high speed
access services
Commission staff is in receipt of comments from TELUS Communications Company (TCC),
dated 30 May 2011, regarding a proposed approach for interim rates for both residential and
business high speed access services. In its comments, TCC requested that parties be given
until 3 June 2011 for reply comments.
Commission staff noted in its letter of 20 May 2011, the importance of providing competitors
with access to the higher speed and increased POI aggregation services as soon as
possible and avoiding any delays on competitors’ abilities to provide consumers with more
choice.
Commission staff notes TCC’s concerns about the number of comments on the proposed
interim rate structure. Commission staff also notes, however, that the issues raised in the
comments are familiar to the parties to this proceeding and should not require extensive
new work or research to provide a response. Commission staff also notes that of the 16
parties who filed comments on interim rates, TCC was the only one to ask for an extension
of time to file reply.
In light of the above, TCC’s request is denied.
