Some people say it’s terrible that Jesus died on the cross. They think He
didn’t need to do it. But that was the only way to pay for our sin! It’s the
only way to heaven! Help the kids go through the maze to heaven.

Family Follow-up
• Go outside to see the stars. Is it hard to believe our planet is just
a small part of a big universe? Our life is also only a small part of
eternity. That’s why we need to live for God’s big plan!
HIDDEN PICTURES: Jesus told His disciples not to think just about life
now, but also life after death: “What will it profit a man if he gains the
whole world and loses his soul?” (Matt. 16:26). Do you think about
spiritual things that will last forever – or just things on earth like having fun
and getting stuff? The boy in the picture is greedy for money. Find 12
coins hidden in the picture. Color the picture.

HOW TO SAVE YOUR LIFE (Matt. 16:21-28)
A big surprise. Jesus
began telling His
disciples that He must go
be killed, and then rise
again. They were
shocked! They thought
He was going to become
a king!
A big argument. Peter said, “This shall never happen!” Jesus scolded
Peter and said his idea was from Satan!
Later, Peter understood what Jesus meant. Here’s what he wrote. Find
the underlined words in the Word Find:
“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the
unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the
body but made alive by the Spirit.” --1 Peter 3:18
The cross is very important. Why did Jesus have to die? Draw lines to
match the beginning of the sentence with the ending below.

Jesus said, “If anyone
would come after me, let
him deny himself and take
up his cross and follow
me.” What does that mean?
Circle the best endings for

God’s kingdom is coming! Pretend the line below is a long rope
showing all of time, forever. Color a part to show how long your life is
compared to the whole rope. Should you live just for yourself, or for God?
