Dear Sir, •
'On the front page of Surrëy Guardian--of May 21st, therê is an
article entitled "imi REGSo FOR ÏÏALIS?" TMs •article contains the follow
-ing paragraphe
"The also thought that' defined as'sleeping
around' was highly undesiràbleo Hë^elieved siïch conduct would lead to
psychological harm to the individtiali :5e;comm.ented that personally^ he
saw nothing harmful in students'. sleéping toge:^ker (with the opposite or
the same sex) providing it,wa«in the conte:xt'b-f a steady. ;relationship. "
The first two sentences arè' correct, The'/.Shird"is noii^What I actu
-ally said-wasï "The hehaviour of 'two students "going steady is another
matterò" What is attributed to me is neither what 1 said, nor what I
think «
Having regard to the effect on people inside and outside the .
University of what I am purported to have said, I would be glad if this
correction conld be published in Bare Pactsj as well as in the next
issue of the Surrey Guardian tb which I have written separately.
Tours faithfully,
Letter to Stuart Yiilsoni
Dear Stuart,
May I express my congratulations and thanks to the dosens of
Students Union members for the work they put in on the University stand
at the County Show, in the préparation and manning of the exhibits,
helping with the University display generally and running the SUSAG
service of cars and guides, What's more, when the Show was over and the
exhibits were dismantled, there was.no rubbish left behind, not even a
bottle^top!
It would be unfair to pick out any individuai item - they were ail
good and attracted much interest - but I must mention the grand job that
Martyn Denney did in co-ordination of the Union effort with the Public
Helations Office»
Well done, everyone, and thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Bradbeer» (Public Helations Officer.)
Eds. notes
And the B.P, staff would like to thank M-.D» for deco-ordinating the
Surrey Show Bare Pacts to the best of his ability.
Dear Sir,
ITOISE
How much longer will the residents of Surrey Court have to suffer?
The following pétition signed by 62 members of Bourne and Blackwater
Houses,(100^ of those shown it) has been sent to the Ents. Chairman, who
will then pass it on to the Bursars
"KOISE PEOM DISCOS HELD IN THE HALL BAR„
Considérable nuisance to residents of Bourne and Blackwater Houses by
noise from discos etc, held in the Hall Bar, notably last Tuesday, 26th.
May. The prospect of continuous noise over the Coming weekend, when a
disco on.Priday is advertised to last until 2a.m., is considered by the
undersigned to be unfair to those residents studying for examinations or
trying to sleepc
We ask that ali functions liable to cause excessive noise are
transfered to one of the Senate House bars, preferably for good, but at
least for the examination period,
Signed - 62 members of those hpuses seen on 2770,"
The Dean of Students informs me that thére- v/ill be an- emergency
meeting of the Wines Committee. on Tuesday (be'tter. late than never) v/hen
the Bursar .is back. This meeting has been called to discuss the nois'e.,
irom the Hall Bar and .maybe change the . Bar 'bookihg system» I urge anj^éhe
Who was not in when I brought the pétition round and agrees with it to
write to the Bursar now, •.;: •;, ^-. •V
