<strong>Short</strong> <strong>Syllabus</strong><br />

This laboratory class is intended to review and reinforce student understanding <strong>of</strong> basic<br />

concepts in strength <strong>of</strong> materials, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat<br />

transfer, control, and measurement techniques. Among the modules are continuous beam,<br />

buckling, free and forced vibrations, gyroscope, governor, heat conduction, forced<br />

convection, stress and strain measurement using electrical strain gages, journal bearing,<br />

head loss in internal flow, heating or calorific value measurement, and vapor enthalpy<br />

and quality measurements.<br />
