<strong>Short</strong> <strong>Syllabus</strong><br />
This course deals with the introduction <strong>of</strong> machine elements (bolts, nuts, gears,<br />
couplings, etc.), selection, and sizing to satisfy a certain requirement. The syllabus<br />
includes design process, review <strong>of</strong> stress analysis, failure analysis, safety factor, design <strong>of</strong><br />
shaft, connection: pin, spline shaft, key, fixed coupling, bolted, riveted, and welded<br />
joints, bearing: roller bearing, bearing housing, journal bearing, springs: coil and leaf<br />
springs, flexible transmission elements: belt and chain.<br />
