NEWSLETTER
Friday
March 5, 2010
ASSISTANT HEAD/UPPER SCHOOL DIRECTOR
Though we are far from the end of this school
year, program planning has begun in earnest for
next year. The school calendar has been set and
draft one of our master schedule will be prepared
by Monday. (Just to give you an idea, this year’s
master schedule was not finalized until draft 15
was complete!) What is important for parents and
students to know is that March is the time to be
considering program options for next year and for
seeking guidance on those options by talking with
counselors and teachers. Of particular importance
are the choices made by our current 10th grade
students and that is why a special parent meeting
has been arranged for next Thursday night
(details below).
In early April, all returning students will be asked to
register online for the 2010/11 school year. Before the
summer break begins, students will have a first copy
of their schedule.
It is anticipated that there will be again next year a
very high demand for places in the Upper School and I
encourage you to re-register as soon as you are certain
that you will be in Paris next year.
STUDENT COUNCIL BOAT DANCE
You may have been on a boat. You may have been to a dance. But have you ever been to a boat dance?
On Friday, April 2, the Student Council has planned a special boat dance dubbed the "SEINE-sational"
for the entire Upper School! Beginning at 7:30 and ending at 11:00 P.M., the event will take place on a
river boat reserved exclusively for ASP that evening. The boat will be moving and will make a tour along
the Seine. Dinner, included in the price of the ticket, will be catered by Subway. Tickets are on sale
from student council members at lunchtimes for only €15 in the Cube. Since the boat only holds about
200 people, tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. The Student Council will provide more
details regarding this event as the date approaches, but if you have any questions, please feel free to
ask a Student Council member or email cvezina@asparis.fr. Be sure not to miss this very rare and exciting
event!
From the 11th Grade Counselor
Just a reminder that ALL 2nd year IB candidates will need to have
their supervisors’ evaluations done online by Friday March 20th at
the latest. Please encourage your child to make sure that their
supervisors have evaluated their activities online. If you have any
questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
