FROM THE
PRESIDENT
Bob Hogan
What a
Board of
Directors!
Ihope everyone is doing well and not wet, but does anyone know who
parked their boat in my yard? Although I still believe in the rainbow
principal, I did see a few animals gathering two by two.
Speaking of gathering, our board of directors and officers met on May 6
to conduct the business of the TTA. Did I tell you that we have a great board
of directors? As reported in my last letter to our association members, we are
experiencing some financial challenges. The board assured me that it wasn’t
a yard too big to cut or too green to manage. Let me explain.
I started the meeting by welcoming our new board members, Dr. Brandon
Horvath, UT’s new professor, and Adam Thoms, UT’s teaching assistant.
After the greetings, we went directly into the review of the 2009 Conference
& Trade Show. A great deal of time was given to the UT Update section. We
discussed fewer outside speakers and allowing more of the UT teaching staff
to lead in the education conference in order to save money. Suggestions were
made to eliminate the ice cream and prayer and add a bar and a big screen
TV for the NFL playoffs. Do I need to tell you how I voted?
After the 2009 review, we elected the 2009–2010 committees. Next, I
positioned with the board and officers the financial challenge we have before
us. I offered them seven options that would change our condition. We kicked
it back to committees, and they are up for the challenge. I know each
committee will work hard and bring back to the board their suggestions that
will make our association bigger and better with even more “green” than we
had yesterday. I love it when a plan comes together. What a board!
We all need to work to make this association the best ever, but we need
your help. I assure you that the board will do its job, but I ask each of us to
invite someone to be a member of TTA. I believe if we ask ten people to join
TTA, we will get at least one new member. So please help and start asking
people to join, and remind our old non-members to come back and renew
their membership.
If you have any comments or ideas about the TTA, the Conference & Trade
Show or how we can increase revenue, please call me at The Hogan
Company, 1-888-224-6426.
