RESORT REFERENCE GUIDE<br />
H: MARINE BAND RADIO<br />
1. Your houseboat is equipped with a marine band radio. Eagle Cove Resort monitors<br />
channel 12.<br />
NOTE: If you are out of range of Eagle Cove, you may contact another marina to relay a<br />
message. See Section III for a list of channels for other Marinas.<br />
2. Channel 16 is an emergency channel. Use an alternate channel besides 16 and 12 for private<br />
conversations.<br />
3. To make a call on the Marine Band Radio:<br />
a. Push in firmly on the “push to talk” button on the side of the hand microphone to transmit.<br />
b. To call Eagle Cove, state “State your boat and # calling Eagle Cove Resort.”<br />
c. Release the button to hear a reply. You CANNOT hear a reply unless the “push to talk”<br />
button is released.<br />
d. Refer to “Controls and Indicators” below for radio specifications.<br />
4. Low power is used in the harbor only. High power is used outside the harbor. Make sure the<br />
high power button is on once you leave the harbor.<br />
5. The red light indicates “push to talk” button is depressed.<br />
6. Do not pull on microphone cord while transmitting.<br />
7. If travel is more than 5 miles, you may experience interference using the marine radio.<br />
8. Channel 1 is a 24-hour weather channel.<br />
Controls and Indicators<br />
1. UP/DWN Channel Selectors-- These controls are used to select the desired communication<br />
channel<br />
2. LED Panel—Indicators for Channel Number, 16, INT, IW and TX<br />
3. SQ (Squelch)—Eliminates the background noise when no signal is being received<br />
4. Push-to-talk (PTT) Switch—Press to transmit and release to receive<br />
5. CH16—Controls access to instant Channel 16 communications<br />
6. INT (USA/International)—Switches operation between US and International Channels<br />
7. 1W/25W (TX Output)—Controls transmitters output power<br />
8. VOL (On/Off Volume)—Turns the MC535 power on or off and adjusts the volume<br />
