TEAMTALK silvan update NEW! - SMOOTHFLO PUMP SILVAN SELECTA’S NEW SMOOTHFLO - QUANTUM LEAP FOR 12 VOLT PRESSURE PUMP APPLICATIONS Silvan Australia’s Selecta Division has been appointed the sole Australasian distributor of the compact new Smoothflo 12 volt pressure pump that offers continual flow without the need for a pressure regulator. The pump is ideal to use with spraying equipment and also for mobile homes, recreational vehicles and marine applications. Newly developed in the USA the key feature of the Smoothflo pump is the constant pressure technology from the pump when turned on, to prevent uneven pulsation. This effect is important where a 12 volt powered pump is part of a system for spraying so that the application pattern is even. Silvan Selecta Product Manager Greg Everett says that the Smoothflo is a positive displacement pump that is ideally suited for spot spraying or smaller boom spray type applications. “It achieves a maximum pressure of 690 kPa or 120 psi and a maximum open flow of up to seven litres per minute. “Typical maximum power draw is 9 amps while the Smoothflo has an electric motor with quality roller bearings at each end of the shaft and is sealed to give an IP55 rating. “The Smoothflo 12 volt pump is manufactured with Viton valves and a Santoprene diaphragm while its internal design regulates the flow under pressure to maximise the volume under higher pressures. “By design it is a positive displacement three chamber diaphragm pump with a built in auto bypass which includes a quality Honeywell on demand pressure sensing micro switch for on demand spraying or other transfer applications.” The new pump is compact in shape and while weighing only 2.6 kgs the Smoothflo is self priming and has all inlet and outlet fittings in standard 3/8 inch BSP profiles. Greg says “the Smoothflo pump is designed for continuous flow without the need for a traditional pressure regulator and is supplied with a common footprint mounting plate requiring only four screws to fix in place”. WA CUSTOM BUILD Silvan West Australia recently completed a unique custom build project for the Case New Holland group, the spray unit has been designed for use as a training tool for CNH dealers learning to use the Trimble Navigation equipment, which is supplied on most Case Self Propelled sprayers. The sprayer has two functions – one for in-classroom situations where the sprayer will be demonstrating boom switching with the use of nozzles mounted inside a perspex box. This water is then recycled back into the tank. The sprayer can also be mounted to the rear of a Case Scout (RTV) and utilises the Silvan 3 metre cross fold boom which has a quick release coupling to make the change from class room to infield demonstrations relatively easy. The Custom build also features the Aquatec DDP-550 Pump, Arag Section and Regulating Valves, Polmac Flowmeter, Manual Pressure Relief Valve and 100L Utepak tank. TEAMTALK silvan update Selecta Training Schools on the roaD in west australia Following on from the Selecta Training Schools that have been completed in the eastern states, Silvan WA have commenced their Selecta Training program for the Silvan WA dealer network. Training is scheduled throughout Perth and regional centres across WA. In all, 7 Training venues are booked throughout the state with the Perth branch being the first venue which was held on 23 February 2012 All the sessions will be attended by Darren Hawes, with Nick Dicembre on hand for the northern venues and Glenn Edmonds in the south. Areas covered in each session include; E Commerce, the new Silvan Website, New Selecta Products, Selecta Blue, Custom Build, Booms, Nozzles and Spray Guns, Spare Parts CD and Warranty. These schools, in the past, have had excellent feedback from attendees, with dealers welcoming the opportunity for hands-on training and demonstration. In addition to Silvan’s presence, CAT, Liebher, Kubota, Komatsu and Wacker Neuson, showcased their machinery and new products. The show targeted the civil and construction market with contractors working in the plumbing, electrical and civil industries. The Silvan stand displayed a range of products with the Nobili RM Side Arm Mulcher being shown for the first time on a new display stand designed for customers to be able to view the mechanics underneath. Other products showcased were the Shireboss Slasher, Sitrex Finishing Mower, TK Nobili Mulcher, 800L Trailed Fire Fighting unit and 400L Pasturepak, as well as ATV ramps, Sherlock wheelbarrows and Selecta Spotpaks and Diesel units, with a large proportion of the interest generated around the diesel units and Nobili side arm mowers. Prior to joining Silvan Nicola held the role of a Key Account Manager with Blackwoods the major national industrial products group, and previously gained valuable experience in the metal trades associated with the resource sector, particularly the vital WA resource developments.
