Calls
In 2008, we implemented government
affairs conference calls. Initially, these were
held bi-weekly during the legislative session,
but slowed down to monthly during the
election and have been on temporary hiatus
until the Legislature reconvenes in January.
The conference calls have been limited to a
half-hour and have included quick updates
on legislative and regulatory issues as well as
briefings by legislators and other special
guests. We guarantee we will not waste your
time; we will only schedule conference calls
as needed, ensuring that the half-hour
timeframe is followed. Please watch the

In addition to the above innovations, we
will continue the traditional forms of
communication with our members:
Wisconsin Grocer
Magazine
We continue to put out a high quality,
four-color magazine with locally written
and industry specific stories. In addition,
we highlight our members and discuss
timely legislative and industry issues.
We are currently working on the editorial
calendar for 2009 which will begin with
our Spring issue. If there is a topic that you
think we should cover, please let us know,
we’d love to hear from you!

Mailings
The WGA member
mailings are the
primary way we
communicate with members.
Member mailings are an
accumulation of important
and timely information sent
out as needed. Originally, we
planned to send member
mailings bi-monthly but have learned that
there are times of the year when monthly
mailings are needed and there are other
times when no mailings are required.
WGA Web Site
The WGA
web site
houses
the most
information
about the
Wisconsin
grocery
industry on the internet. We are amazed at
the high number of hits our
web site receives each month, but it
confirms that the information is useful.

Finally, the best communication we have is
personal contact. We encourage you to take

Representative—Debbie
Schneider. Debbie started with
the WGA mid-2008 and has
been a great addition to our
staff. She is very enthusiastic
and has already visited many
of our members. In addition,
she is going to be compiling
information on store
openings, remodelings and any other
exciting happenings in your store.
