In this busy world we live in, we can easily forget to make those annual visits to the doctor. Did you know, starting in July, now plan A and B along with the HRA plan covers 100% of some preventative health care? Below are some tips on how you can take charge of your health care; • Get your FREE, Money Saving, Red Gold Health Assessment this June. See RGi and your local bulletin boards for more information on dates and times. • Don’t wait! Sometimes you may be able to tell if something is wrong; don’t wait until things get out of hand before you see your doctor. • Be informed. You can use the internet to get more information. Good sites to visit are; www.webmd.com, www.mayoclinic.com • Be prepared. Bring past medical records to a new doctor whenever possible. • Ask questions, questions, and more questions. Below is one example of some questions you may want to ask your doctor about your medicine; • Ask the name of the medicine, how it works, when and how long to take it, what foods and drinks to avoid, what side effects are possible and if there are ways to deal with those side effects, how to know when the medicine is working or not working, and whether interactions are possible with other prescription or non-prescription drugs. Here’s a quick checklist of things you should do to prepare yourself, your boss and your co-workers. • Decide now if you’re going to do any work while you’re on vacation. If you’re going to be available in certain situations, you have to make sure your lines of communication are open. Create a plan now, so there is no confusion. • Try to bring all open projects to a conclusion. This will make it easier for your co-workers; they will not be waiting on your return to move things forward. • Clean your desk; everything must go! Answer all outstanding voicemails. Clear out your email inbox. This will make it easier to hit the ground running when you come back. • Right now, before you leave, make a to-do list of things you might need to tackle when you get back. Don’t rely on your memory after a week at the beach! • Set your email to ‘Out-of-Office’. If someone is covering for you, make sure all of your usual contacts know who this person is and how they can be contacted. • Change your phone message to say that you are ‘Out-of-Office’ and who to contact in your absence.
