MPC Parking Deck Coating
Miracote MPC Parking Deck Coating is a unique time-tested
approach being newly discovered by specifiers and contractors
alike for the waterproofing and protection of concrete parking
structures. Unlike polyurethane-based and other vapor
impermeable systems, MPC Parking Deck Coating allows for the
transmission of moisture vapor, thereby maintaining the
“breathability” of the concrete substrate. For this reason, MPC
can be installed where polyurethanes and epoxies cannot. Such
as, concrete slabs on-grade, concrete slabs over non-vented
metal pans and concrete toppings over sandwich membranes.
This inherent benefit of MPC also helps lower internal moisture
content of the concrete substrate which can further lead to
significant reduction in corrosion rates of steel reinforcement.
MPC Parking Deck Coating is a polymerized, two component,
cementitious protective and waterproof coating that is applied in
three coats by notched squeegee and back-rolled to a typical
minimum thickness of approximately 3/32” or a little more than
90 mils. It consists of a unique rubber-like polymer liquid which
is mixed with a proprietary cement and aggregate blend. Unlike
polyurethane or epoxy systems that require the extra step of
broadcasting sand and sweeping up the excess, skid resistance
is a “built-in” feature of the MPC system which saves time,
money and gets the parking deck back in service much faster.

Designed for either exterior or interior use, MPC Parking Deck
Coating restores and protects concrete surfaces from the
consequences of exposure to chlorides, water intrusion,
carbonation, freeze thaw, and damage from impact and abrasion.
A variety of skid resistant finishes can be achieved from a light
or heavy back-roll texture, to a broom finish or anything in
between. MPC Parking Deck Coating can restore concrete to a
“like new” appearance or provide enhanced visual interest and
curb appeal through a wide range of available colors and
textures.

Formulated with environmental requirements in mind, MPC Parking
Deck Coating and other system components are VOC-compliant,
silica-free and can qualify for LEED points. This diverse thin
resurfacing and waterproof coating system can be applied solely as
functional stand-alone traffic coating, or in conjunction with a wide
range companion Miracote products for system enhancement. For a
wider choice of colors, liquid integral pigments may be added. For
enhanced cleanability and stain resistance, Miracote provides you
with a broad range of clear acrylic sealers, clear or pigmented
polyurethane top coats and hydrophobic/oleophobic penetrating
sealers. For detailing and treatment of existing cracks, Miracote
Membrane A is an elastomeric rubber emulsion that is required to use
neat for crack isolation or embedded with RP Fabric for crack
reinforcement.
MPC Parking Deck Coating is a very flexible, state-of-the-art, prepackaged,
two-component formulation to ensure maximum durability
for interior and exterior applications in a wide range of climates. It is
available in two aggregate blends depending on where traffic
conditions are normal or more extreme. MPC Regular is ideal for
normal conditions in parking stalls, drive lanes and turn lanes. MPC
Hard is modified with aluminum oxide for enhanced abrasion
resistance where turn lanes and ramps are subjected to extreme duty.
Its extraordinary adhesion even on damp substrates can ensure
owners of parking structures years of trouble-free service without
blistering or delamination.

MPC Parking Deck Coating is installed at approximately 3/32 inch
(2.4mm) in three coats which in ideal conditions can be done in one
day. It is typically applied by notched squeegee and back-rolled which
produces a natural skid resistant textured surface, as shown. MPC
Parking Deck Coating is easy and trouble free to install. It consists of
one product for all three layers without need to worry that the wrong
components are accidently mixed on site. No need to broadcast or
recover sand. And, with its outstanding adhesion on damp substrates,
a little rain doesn’t ruin the day. It is that simple!!
