Injecting new blood into the
Welsh male voice choir tradition,
Only Men Aloud perform a varied
and eclectic repertoire from
Welsh folksongs and hymns to
musicals and opera. The choir
won the BBC’s Last Choir Standing
in the summer of 2008, and
released their debut album
shortly afterwards, which went
gold in the UK.

George Fenton’s work in film and television has seen
him score for over 100 films and collaborate with
some of the most influential filmmakers in the UK.
His ambitious and masterful approach to music is most
recognised in the BBC landmark series The Blue Planet,
Planet Earth and Frozen Planet, for which he has won
numerous awards including a BAFTA and Emmy award
for Best Television Score. His most recent scores
include Stephen Frears’ latest film Muhammad Ali’s
Greatest Fight, the music for Ken Loach’s film The Spirit
of ’45 and the hugely successful Untold Stories by Alan
Bennett, which has recently moved to the West End.
Fenton is five times Oscar nominated.

BAFTA nominated and Oscar winning composer
Dario Marianelli’s iconic scores have provided a
soundtrack to some of the most celebrated British
films over the last 10 years. Feature films including
Atonement, Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta
and Jane Eyre have seen him work with a number
of prominent directors, most notably British director
Joe Wright for whom he has scored four films. His
most recent collaboration with Wright for Anna
Karenina earned him Academy Award, BAFTA and
Golden Globe nominations as well as an Ivor Novello
Award for Best Original Film Score.

Ulrich Schnauss creates lush,
elegant electronica under both
his own name and pseudonyms

77. He has worked with and
remixed a host of artists including
Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and
Sia. He comes to the Elgar Room
fresh from the release of new album
A Long Way to Fall out on Domino
Records.

NATACHA ATLAS
SATURDAY 12 OCTOBER, 8.30PM
Born in Brussels of Anglo-
Egyptian parentage, Natacha
Atlas’s multicultural background
and experiences have helped
shape her trademark sound which
seamlessly bridges musical and
cultural divides. She has gained
widespread recognition for her
successful pioneering meld of
Western and Eastern music, and
specifically her use of cuttingedge
electronic beats with Arabic
melodies and instrumentation.
This show is part of the Nour
Festival celebrating Middle Eastern
and North African culture and arts
