Mission Statement
We, the Roman Catholic faith community of Our
Lady of Grace, rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and dedicated to our Blessed Mother, value our
mission to make God’s presence visible in today’s
world. In service to God’s will, and with the Holy
Spirit’s guidance, we manifest God’s peace, love
and saving presence as we pray, worship, work and
live together in His Name.

PRAYERS WORK WONDERS
Our Lady of Grace prayer line is always available to
you. It is not just for the sick of the parish but for any
suffering (emotional, financial, spiritual, etc.). Just call
the office to have name placed on it.

chocolate-covered raisins and chocolate-covered peanuts
from Olympia Candy that will help with your
celebration. You can pick them up through the rectory
office.
We will still continue to offer our large assortment of
gift cards throughout the coming year.
SAINT JOHN THE EVANGELIST
Celebrate the Feast of Saint John the Evangelist, our
Diocesan Patron and the Patron of our Cathedral Church
on Tuesday, December 27. Solemn Vespers will be sung
at 7 pm amidst the splendor of Christmas. Bishop
Richard Lennon will be the presider and preacher.
Following Vespers there will be a brief tour of the
Cathedral church and a social with light refreshments.
All are welcomed.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVES
God’s plan of salvation for the world depended on a
family. Jesus’ birth to Mary and Joseph was a surprise to
them which required soul-searching, prayer,
communication and commitment to cooperate with
God’s challenging plan for their lives. Fortunately, they
chose to say “yes” to God. This is the pattern for all
families. All will encounter surprises. All will be
challenged to trust God’s providence for the future.
God’s grace and presence is what makes each family
holy. In Him all things are possible.
HOLY NAME ALUMNI VOLLEYBALL
The Holy Name High School Alumni is hosting its
annual volleyball Tournament on January 7, 2012.
Alums may sign up as an individual or as part of a team.
The tournament is open to both female and male alums
of all ages and athletic abilities. The registration form is

MARIAN MOVEMENT OF PRIESTS CENACLE
They meet to pray for the Magisterium and priests of the
Roman Catholic Church. They consecrate themselves to
the Immaculate Heart of Mary, asking for her protection
and to be good servants of Jesus, her Son. They meet the
first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:30 pm.
MOM’S PRAYER GROUP
A group of Catholic mothers committed to raising their
children in the Catholic Faith. They remain faithful to
the Magisterium of the Church while coming together
for prayer, support and to learn more about our Faith
and the Holy Father’s teachings. They welcome mothers
of all ages and stages to join them. The diocese
recognizes them officially as the Archconfraternity of
Christian Mothers. They offer a Children’s Virtue
program, monthly skating parties, Bible study and
Children’s Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
PRO-LIFE COMMITTEE
This committee focuses on the education, protection and
preservation of the unborn. They highlight articles on
Roe v. Wade, church teaching, Planned Parenthood and
services available in medina County.
ROSARY FOR PEACE
Meets in the church (during the winter) every Thursday
at 7 pm. In the summer they pray at the Shrine.
TRI-COUNTY MARIAN SOCIETY
This organization is dedicated to the furtherance of
devotion to Mary. One of their most important activities
is making and the worldwide distribution of rosaries.
They meet the first Saturday of every month after the 8
am Mass. To help purchase rosary supplies, they are
accepting aluminum to recycle. Please save your rinsed
and crushed aluminum cans. You may drop your bags of
cans off on the north side of the garage.
WOMEN OF HOPE
This ministry is designed to encourage women in all
walks of life, to help them in forming meaningful
friendships, mature in their faith, and enrich their lives
as they serve and reach out to others. They grow in
Christ through their Scripture Study, Prayer Ministry,
Card Ministry, Bereavement Ministry and Retreats.
They meet September through May, twice a month
either on Tuesdays at noon or Thursdays at 7 pm.

SAINT OF THE DAY
Holy Innocents—Since the sixth century the Church
has celebrated the memory of those children killed
because of Herod’s rage against Christ. Tradition refers
to them as the “holy Innocents” and regards them as
martyrs. They died for not only for Christ, but died in
His stead.
The gospel of Matthew (2:1-18) tells us
that .02H1erod was “greatly troubled” when the Magi,
came asking the whereabouts of “the newborn king of
the Jews,” whose star they had seen. They were told that
the Jewish Scriptures named Bethlehem as the place
where the Messiah would be born. Herod told them to
report back to him so he could also “do Him homage.”
They found Jesus, offered Him their gifts, and warned by
an angel, avoided Herod on their way home. Jesus
escaped to Egypt.
