Dear Parish Family,
I cannot begin to tell you how grateful
I am for the continuing generosity which
you have shown with your pledges to the
Campaign. When I began this project it
was a continuous worry on how this would
happen and how our response would be. I
am grateful. We are almost done! A million
times over: thank you!
Please try and join us for our Parish
Afternoon Reflection for Lent. This will be
held next Sunday from 3 p.m. until –no later
than 6. It’s just a time for us to reflect on
a few Scripture passages—enjoy the company
of one another—share a meal—and
pray.
This Sunday is our first parish PRE-
CANA. We pray that the day will be a
memorable experience and a blessing for
those attending.
The kids of Veritas+ will be again
pray the Stations of the Cross entitled:
Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. This will be
on Friday, March 16th at 7:30 p.m. You
won’t want to miss this powerful presentation
of the final hours of Jesus and the
Promise of Resurrection!
I hope your week is blessed. These are
busy days—anticipating the coming of
Spring! We are almost there!
Please remember those who are ill
and those who have asked our prayers.

the many volunteers who help in so many
ways to make this a Family Parish!

Pennies for Father Julius.
The water jugs at the back
entrances of the Church are already
filling up. This is our Lenten project—to
send a check to Fr. Julius
to assist him in providing for his people. The water
we take easily for granted is a luxury for some
people. Although I am not able to communicate
with Father Julius, I am certain that he is praying
for us and counting on our prayers as well. The
water jugs are for any spare change you might
have….a penny is a PENNY! Thank you.

“Gracie, why do you keep
running back and forth in
the hall” Gracie halted for a
moment, panting she said,
“I’m working out!” Lily hesitated
to continue the conversation
but her curiosity got
the best of her, “Working out
for what reason” Because I heard what Father told
those kids last weekend about the Easter Bunny.” Lily
was thoroughly confused, “What about the bunny”
Gracie replied quickly with some sense of urgency, “He
said that late at night before Easter Morning the Bunny
comes into the house with a basket.” Lily thought long
and hard, “Yesss..” she said in a questioning tone, “and
so what” Gracie took a step back, “Lily, do you want
some Bunny creeping around our house while we are
asleep” Lily smiled, “Gracie, it’s the Easter Bunny! He
brings a basket of treats and colored eggs!” Gracie’s
eyes widened, “Treats She paused and thought long
and hard, “Why don’t I remember that happening last
year” Lily replied quickly, “Because you were too
young.” Gracie sighed a long breath of relief as Lily
continued, “What did you think the Bunny does when
he comes on Easter Morning” Gracie tilted her head,
“I thought that the basket he brought was for things
that he would take from us. I didn’t know he brought us
TREATS!” There was a long pause as Lily was thinking.
Suddenly she stood on all fours and with excitement
she said, “Gracie, that’s a great idea!” Gracie
was puzzled as Lily continued, “This Easter we will
leave a basket for the Bunny. We’ll fill it with all kinds
of stuff and then leave him a note.” Gracie nodded,
“what will the note read” Lily took a moment to formulate
her thoughts and then said, “Dear Easter
Bunny, Thank you for leaving us a Basket of
Treats. Please accept this basket which we
have made and give it to someone who is not
as fortunate as we are.” Gracie smiled. “It is a
great idea! This way we’ll really be sharing Easter Joy!
We’ll have OUR treats and SOMEONE ELSE will
have a basket which we’ll make!” Without hesitation
Gracie sped down the hall. “Where are you running
to” asked Lily. Without stopping Gracie
responded, “To your toy box so that I can
find things to give for the Easter Bunny to
give away to others!” Lily shook her head,
“I should have known!”
Charity begins in the home—but it should probably start
with things from your own toy box first!

Family Perspectives
When Jesus drove the merchants out of the temple, he
was not angry, he was PASSIONATE! Jesus clearly
believed in what He was doing! The gospel tells us that
because of this, “many believed in His Name because
they saw the signs that He was showing them.” If we
expect our children to learn our values and beliefs, then
they must witness our passion for these values. Just like
the people in today’s gospel, our children need to see
the signs of what we’re doing if they are to believe.
Children need us to be passionate leaders.

When Everyone's Irish
St. Patrick's Day on March 17 follows the old custom of honoring
saints on the day of their death - that is, the day of their presumed
entrance into heaven. But how did St. Patrick's Day become
such a universal celebration There's a lot to commend the
day. It falls in the middle of Lent, a time of penance for most
Christians. A little break from the rigors of Lent is most welcome.
Beer, a grain beverage, was permitted during Lent in the
days when stricter fast rules banned not only meat but also dairy
products. As people of an island nation, the Irish found the
means to emigrate taking some of the best of their culture with
them. When many better off families may have had an Irish
cook or laundress, it's easy to see how the stories of the "Old
Sod" made their way into the imagination of the children of the
household, from leprechauns to rainbows ending in pots of gold.
St. Patrick's Day has indeed become a day when everyone is
Irish!

In Memoriam+
Our loving prayers and deepest sympathy are extended to the
family of Norma Bertocci (mother of Robert Stamm) who was
called to her eternal reward. Please pray for her and all the
faithful departed.
The mandate from the Department of Health and Human Services that
would require employees, including Catholic organizations across the
United States, to provide sterilization, abortifacients and contraceptives
to its employees through health insurance coverage has led to many
questions. The United States Conference on Catholic Bishops does not
view President Obama’s compromise as any solution at all to the
untenable situation this mandate puts us in as Catholics.
Please continue to write or call our elected officials. Their names and
addresses are on the information table.
Catholic Works of Mercy:
Along with St. Ambrose Parish we will continue
to collect non-perishable food items, especially
on the third weekend of each month. We
are especially in need of canned peas, pancake
mix, maple syrup and muffin mix. This
food will be distributed to those in need here in
Brunswick & Medina County.

The Holy Name Society retreat originally scheduled
for February 16th at 3:00pm has been rescheduled for
March 18th. We’ll be joining the attendees of the St.
Colette Afternoon of Reflection. Please sign up on
the sheets on the Information table or call the Parish
office to reserve your spot!
ACES
Adult Catholic Enthusiastic Singles
We will be attending the pancake
breakfast in Hinckley on Buzzard Day,
Sunday, March 18th. We will meet in
the Atrium after 8am Mass and drive
in a caravan to the breakfast. Please
sign up at the Information table in the
Atrium, if you plan on attending before March 11.
Meeting
There will be no meeting in April due to Holy Week.

Wake.
Daughters of St. Colette
Our next meeting will be held on Monday, March 19th
at 7pm in the Atrium. It will be a regular meeting,
which we will break down into our groups and discuss
upcoming events. We will also be having an appetizer
party. Please bring an appetizer to share or an appetizer
recipe and be entered into our raffle. Surveys are
still available in the atrium on the information table.
Dinner Out
Our next dinner out will be on Thursday, March 22 at
6:45pm at Sully’s, 117 W. Liberty, Medina. We will
be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, ( a little late) at this
great Irish Pub! All women of the Parish are invited
to attend this fun night out. Please sign up at the information
table in the Atrium so that we can make reservations!
Bible Study
At our March 15th Bible Study, we will focus on
Messianic Fulfillment-Part 1. Our readings will be
Luke 1:1-9:50. Due to the Lenten concert, we will be
meeting in the Parish Hall.

St. Colette
Rivers Casino Bus Trip
Our next bus trip will be to Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh,
Pa. We will be departing for Rivers at 7:30am
on Tuesday, April 10th and returning back to St. Colette
at approximately 7pm. The cost is $26.00 per
person which includes, $15.00 free play, $5.00 food
voucher, bus driver tip and snacks. Reservation forms
are on the information table in the Atrium. Hurry, this
bus is filling up quickly and I only have a few seats
left!

Fish Fry
Our special for Friday, March 16th is a bowl of
clam chowder with crackers for $2.75. Come and
