Parking Lot Expansion
On August 20, 2007, the Village of Orland Park Trustees unanimously (7-0) approved the parking lot expansion for final
approval. This will expand the total parking to 338 stalls on 6.5 acres. With the blessing of Allah (swt) permits to start the
construction will be pulled soon.
Below is the Proposed Master Site Plan for
the entire 6.5 acres. As you notice, the
Master Plan includes the 3-Story Quranic
Institute Community Building, as well as the
parking lot expansion and water pond with
fountain. With the will of Allah (swt) it will
be a beautiful Islamic Campus and serve
as a beacon for Islam and our blessed
Community.
Parking Lot Expansion Update
Alhamdulillah, the Parking Lot Expansion Project is moving forward. The Village of Orland Park unanimously
approved (7-0) the parking lot project. This will expand the total parking to 338 stalls on 6.5 acres. With
the blessing of Allah (swt) permits to start the construction will be pulled soon.
The first stage of the project has been completed – tearing down the old house. Throughout the month of
October, the Orland Park Fire Department has been using the vacant house for training. As part of their
training they have agreed to tear the house down for us by creating a controlled fire and burning it down. On
October 21, 2007 the House was burned down by the Fire Department.
With the blessings of Allah and the generous support of this great Community, the next stage of construction
will start soon. During the Holy Month of Ramadan, you helped raise approximately 60% of the funds
needed to complete the project. So please donate generously to help reach the 100% goal and keep this
project on tract for final completion.
Special Thanks!
On behalf of the Prayer Center of Orland Park, we would like to thank Dr. Blair Rhode and the Orland Park
Orthopedics Center for Sports Medicine for their generosity during the course of Ramadan for allowing us to
use their parking lot. Their parking lot took a lot of relief off the gravel lot and made it much easier
for worshippers to make it to the prayers. We hope we can always show our gratitude by being good
neighbors. Again, THANK YOU Dr. Rhode and Orland Park Orthopedics!
Orland Park Orthopedics is proud to announce its new location in Orland Park. We have relocated to 16450
S. 104th Avenue. OPO provides fellowship trained sports medicine to the southwest suburbs.
Orland Park Orthopedics’ doctors are subspecialty trained in sports medicine. This means that they spent
an extra year training in surgeries common to athletes. Surgeries such as ACL reconstruction, arthroscopic
shoulder surgery, and elbow ligament reconstruction. They completed an accredited fellowship with the
Southern California Center for Sports medicine.
Orland Park Orthopedics – Center for Sports Medicine has a state of the art 8,000 square foot rehabilitation
facility. In addition to a full circuit gym, we have an open warehouse that can be used for speed training,
throwing and industrial rehabilitation. We have the area’s only 4 camera motion analysis system, which
allows simultaneous analysis from 4 angles. No other facility in the area has this technology. Orland Park
Orthopedics has developed its own rehabilitation protocols that are carefully monitored by the surgeons.
Our doctors work closely with our physical therapists to tailor your rehabilitation. This is truly a unique
interaction of sports medicine physicians with the physical therapy staff.
Protectors of the Religion
09/21/2007 Khutba
Mr. Zarzoor
Muslims have to pay attention and provide defenders for our community to survive. There were Muslim
communities that did not survive due to the lack of organizations to defend them. The Prophet
Mohammed (PBUH) took every opportunity to ensure his people and religion were defended, including
sending Muslims to Abyssinia for safety. It was one Muslim who rebutted the claims by the Quraysh;
therefore, providing safety for all Muslims in Abyssinia. Currently, we need to provide and support
institutions, groups, and think tanks to represent and defend the Muslims.
Children
09/29/2007 Khutba
There are two examples in the Quran of extreme obedience and disobedient children.
First was Nuh (AS) who asked his son to join him on the boat and not be of those who disbelieve in Allah
(SWT). Nuh’s son said he would not join his father and that he will climb a high mountain when the rain
came. Nuh (AS) son is an example of extreme disobedience.
Ibrahim (AS) dreamt he slaughtered his son. He asked his son what to do, and the son replied to do as
commanded and the son would be patient. Ibrahim’s son is an example of extreme obedience.
Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was the best around the kids to raise, guide, and teach them. Companions
of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) applied the verses in the Quran in their life. The Prophet Mohammed
(PBUH) never told the children “oof”, nor questioned why they did or did not do something.
We need to support educating Muslim children to learn Islam.
Strengthen Our Relationship
10/05/2007 Khutba
Sh. Nazir
If you believe in Allah (SWT) and the day of resurrection, then connect and strengthen your ties with your
relatives. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) stated a requirement to enter Heaven peacefully is to strengthen
ties with relatives. To be this honored person you have to connect when they disconnect, visit when they
do not want to receive you, and extend your help when they do not expect it. Yusuf (AS) forgave his
brothers who spoke ill about him and left him to die in the well. They wanted to kill Yusuf and yet he still
forgave them.
To whom they should spend their charity:
1. Whatever you spend from the bounties of Allah (SWT) spend on your parents first, then relatives,
orphans, poor, and the traveler.
November 2007 | Shawwal / Dhul Qadah
2. When you give to the needy, it counts for you as charity; furthermore, when you give to needy
relatives, your reward is doubled. First, this act brought the hearts of your relatives and you closer.
Second, you fulfilled the act of charity.
Steps to strengthen your relationship with relatives:
1. Having no ill feelings towards your family, forgive them, and pray for them
2. Receive, visit, call, and ask about them
3. Smile and do good to them
4. Extend your hand and help them when they are poor with what Allah (SWT) bestowed onto you
5. Share with them the good and troubling days, also the great occasions and sad occasions
6. Call them to witness with you for what is good for them
7. Advise them when they make a bad decision
8. Be soft in dealing with them
9. Be a good messenger
When families meet, they blame each other. Yet there is no need to argue over whose fault it is and spread
blame. Just as we hope (with the conclusion of Ramadan) that Allah swt will Forgive all of our sins, we
too must forgive each other. This does not only include family and friends but all of our Muslim brothers
and sisters. The one who does not connect with their relatives and does not look after them should not
expect to go to Paradise. No Muslim has the right to disconnect from his brother for more than three
nights. Therefore, make a list and call relatives and friends.
Worship after Ramadan
10/12/2007 Eid Prayer
Sh. Nazir
Eid comes after major seasons of worship and sacrifices such as Ramadan and Haj. Eid comes with
pleasure, satisfaction, great feelings, and thoughts. Unless you are truthful, honest, just, and seek the
permissible, then fasting, prayer, and zakat are not sufficient alone. Allah (SWT) does not need your
hunger and thirst if you are not willing to give up lying and backbiting.
• The main worship of an influential person in the society is to enforce what is right and assist those
oppressed.
• The main worship of those financially rich is to spend their wealth, which pleases Allah (SWT) and His
cause.
• The main worship of those with knowledge is to teach.
• The main worship of a man is to support their family and provide channels to guide them.
• The main worship of a woman is to support their family and bring peace at home.
• Our main worship in this country is taking care of our youth and making them our leaders for tomorrow.
Ramadan had great achievements; however, they are not good enough unless maintained. Take the habits
developed in Ramadan and carry them over after Ramadan.
Another year, another AMAZING finish. It went like this:
With only two seconds remaining and down by two, the ball was inbounded from half-court. The
“unknown brother in the kufi” catches it behind the half court line. One can nearly hear him utter
