AIA NORTH CAROLINA LEADERSHIP<br />
Wayne H. Camas, AIA<br />
President<br />
Wayne Camas is the founder and President of<br />
Camas Associates Architects PA in Charlotte.<br />
Camas is a graduate of Clemson University with<br />
a Bachelor of Pre-Architecture and Master of<br />
Architecture with a Minor in City/Regional<br />
Planning. He has served in various AIA positions<br />
at the local and state level including President of<br />
the Charlotte Section, Chairman of the AIA<br />
Charlotte Architecture Week, member of the<br />
National Steering Committee for the 2002 AIA<br />
Carolinas Convention as well as the Host<br />
Chapter Party Planning Committee. On the<br />
state and regional level he co-chaired the<br />
Sponsorship Committee for 2004 Future Office<br />
and the Outside Events Committee of the 2003<br />
SAR convention. He also co-chaired the<br />
lnsurance Task Force for the Chapter. He has<br />
served on the AIA North Carolina Board for four<br />
years, serving as the 2007 AIA North Carolina<br />
Design Conference Chair. His professional affiliations<br />
include service on the City/County Smart<br />
Growth Committee, the Board of Directors of<br />
the Charlotte Repertory Theatre and the<br />
Advisory Committee for the College of<br />
Architecture at UNC-Charlotte.<br />
Ann W. Collier, AIA<br />
Vice-President<br />
Ann W. Collier, AlA, is a partner and principal<br />
architect with the Rocky Mount based firm of<br />
Oakley Collier, Architects, P.A. A native North<br />
Carolinian, Collier received her Bachelor of<br />
Environmental Design in Architecture degree<br />
from the School of Design at North Carolina<br />
State University. Among her professional affiliations<br />
and activities, Collier includes past leadership<br />
on the AIA North Carolina Board of<br />
Directors as Public Relations Director (2000,<br />
2001); membership on the Public Awareness<br />
Committee (1999-2005), as well as terms serving<br />
the AIA Eastern Section as President (2000),<br />
President-Elect (1999) and Secretary (1998).<br />
Ann has served two terms on Board of Directors<br />
for Tri-County lndustries in Rocky Mount and<br />
maintains as active role within the local business<br />
communities of Nashville and Rocky<br />
Mount. Currently, Collier serves as State<br />
Treasurer for the North Carolina Educational<br />
Facility Planners (NCEFP) and is a member of the<br />
Council of Educational Facility Planners,<br />
International (CEFPI).<br />
J. Michael Cox, AIA<br />
Treasurer<br />
Mike Cox is a founding principal ,with<br />
Architectural Design Studiq an Asheville }'rchitectural<br />
firm established in lg8l,specializing in<br />
the planning, design and renovation of K-12<br />
schools. He received his Bachelor of<br />
Architecture from the University of Tennessee,<br />
Knoxville in '1971 and Master of Architecture<br />
from the University of California, Berkeley in<br />
1973. Cox served as president of the<br />
Preservation Society of Asheville and<br />
Buncombe County and Chairman of the Historic<br />
Resources Commission of Asheville and<br />
Buncombe County. Currently he is a member of<br />
the Council of Education Facilities Planners<br />
International and is regional director for the<br />
North Carolina Educational Facilities Planners.<br />
He is twice president of A|A-Asheville (1979 &<br />
2002J In 2006 and 2007 he served on the AIA<br />
NC Facilities Task Force and as AIANC Director<br />
for Continuing Education.<br />
Matthew D.Messick,AlA<br />
Secretory<br />
Matt Messick is a Partner with Walter Robbs<br />
Callahan & Pierce Architects, PA, in Winston-<br />
Salem. Matt received his Bachelor of Architecture<br />
with honors from NC State University in 1991. He<br />
was the recipient of the RTKL Fellowship and the<br />
Walter Robbs Callahan and Pierce Scholarship.<br />
Since 1998, he has served on the Board of<br />
Directors for the AIA NC Winston-Salem Section,<br />
AIA Insurance task Force Committee, Continuing<br />
Education Committee, 2006 Design Awards<br />
Committee Chair,and as a Director on the AIA NC<br />
Board of Directors. He has been active in a variety<br />
of organizations on the Greensboro / Winston-<br />
Salem Area.<br />
Walton R.Teague,AlA<br />
I m m edi ate Past President<br />
Walt Teague is a Partner and Principal Architect<br />
with the firm Teague Freyaldenhoven<br />
Freyaldenhoven Architects & Planners, LLP (TFF<br />
Architects). With a Business Administration and<br />
Marketing degree, he began his first career in a<br />
marketing position in an architecture-related<br />
business. His personal interest in architecture<br />
led Teague to complete a Masters in<br />
Architecture at North Carolina State University,<br />
and he has been working in the field of architecture<br />
for the last 17 years. Teague has been<br />
actively involved in AIA Piedmont and AIA<br />
North Carolina. His involvement included serving<br />
on the Public Awareness Committee for<br />
seven years, serving as a Director of the AIA<br />
North Carolina Board of Directors, serving as a<br />
member of the Board of Directors of the AIA<br />
North Carolina Political Action Committee, and<br />
serving as the co-chair of the AIA North Carolina<br />
Facilities Task Force.<br />
