John S. Fisher, AlA, LEED AP

John Fisher is president of Fisher Architects, PA
of Asheville. He received his Bachelor of
Architecture degree from the University of
Tennessee and practiced with Cooper Carry &
Associates of Atlanta prior to moving to
Asheville in 1987. He then worked with
Spaceplan Architects of Asheville until founding
his office in 1992. Fisher Architects has grown to
a staff of nine specializing in historic restoration,
office, retail and mixed-use developments. The
office is also focused on sustainable design, and
Fisher has become a LEED Accredited
Professional. He has been quite active in the
community, having served on the Historic
Resources Commission and the Board of
Directors for the Grove Arcade Foundation. He
and his wife Jill have two grown children, Emily
and David.
Michael Derrig, AIA

Michael Derrig is an Associate Architect at the
Asheville office of Calloway Johnson Moore &
West, P.A. He is a graduate of lowa State
University and also studied in Bath, England.
Michael served on the Governor's Design
Team in Minnesota for several years and has
also served on the Heritage Preservation
Commission in Minneapolis.
Since moving to Asheville, Michael has been
active with Habitat for Humanity and has participated
on mission trips to reconstruct homes in
Mississippi and Virginia. Michael has been active
with the Asheville AIA Section the last two years
as a member of the Executive Committee.
Darrel J. Williams, FAIA
Charlotte Section President
DarrelJ.Williams, FAIA,was born in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He grew up in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, where he attended Southern
University, receiving a Bachelor of Architecture
degree in"1979. He is a founding principal of
Neighboring Concepts, a multi-disciplinary
design firm, founded in 1996. Neighboring
Concepts has been successful combining urban
planning, architecture and real estate development
services to transform urban communities.
From 1994to 2002,Williams was elected to four
terms as a Mecklenburg County Commissioner.
From 1996 through 2002, Williams served on
and chaired several national committees during
his leadership with the National Association of
Counties where he led several key initiatives
related to smart growth, housing, and communityleconomic
development. As an architect and
elected official, he has been successful in bridging
the gap between the physical and social
challenges facing urban communities.
John Kincheloe, AIA
Chorlotte P resi dent-Elect
Jonathan B. Kincheloe, AlA, LEED AP, an architect
with 12 years experience is an Associate
Principal and Studio Leader for the Envision
Studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr.
Kincheloe has project and design experience
with a multitude of project and building types
including: professional and medical office buildings,
interior mall renovations, neighborhood
retail centers, banking facilities, mixed-use urban
projects, hotels and tenant upfit projects.
Mr. Kincheloe graduated with a Bachelor of
Science in Architecture from Georgia lnstitute of
Technology in 1993. He went on to obtain his
Master of Architecture degree from Georgia
Tech in 1996. He became a registered architect
in 2000 and a USGBC LEED Accredited
Professional in 2006. He is member of ICSC and
is CDT certified. Mr. Kincheloe will serve as AIA
Charlotte Section President in 2009.
