City of Cape Town,Air Quality Management Unit invites all enterprises involved with hot<br />
dip galvanizing activities to attend a workshop to discuss the licensing obligations and<br />
requirements in terms of Chapter 4, Section 21 and Chapter 5 of the National<br />
Environmental Management:Air Quality Act (Act No.39 of 2004)<br />
We are pleased to invite you to attend this<br />
workshop to discuss and familiarise yourself<br />
with the licensing obligations and<br />
requirements as spelt out in Section 21 on the<br />
National Environmental Management: Air<br />
Quality Act (NEMAQA) (Act No.39 of<br />
2004) for the metallurgical industry.<br />
This session is organized by the City of<br />
Cape Town, Air Quality Management<br />
unit who are the appointed Licensing<br />
Authority in terms of NEMAQA.<br />
During the workshop the following will<br />
be discussed:<br />
1. Overview of NEMAQA<br />
2. Listing of Activities and<br />
consequences thereof<br />
3. Pollution prevention plans,<br />
atmospheric impact reports and<br />
recognition programmes<br />
4. Measures in respect of dust, noise<br />
and offensive odours<br />
5. Licensing authorities and<br />
procedures for atmospheric<br />
emission licences (AEL)<br />
applications, EIA’s and<br />
considerations and decisions of the<br />
competent authorities.<br />
6. Issuing of AEL’s, contents of<br />
Provisional AEL’s and AEL’s,<br />
transfer, review, variation and<br />
renewal thereof.<br />
7. Emission control officers and fit<br />
and proper persons.<br />
8. Offences and penalties<br />
9. Section 21 List of Activities,<br />
definitions, emission measurement,<br />
compliance time frames,<br />
compliance monitoring, reporting<br />
requirements and fugitive emission<br />
plans.<br />
10. Category 4: Metallurgical Industry,<br />
Subcategory 4.22: Hot dip<br />
galvanizing<br />
Participation and input at this workshop<br />
will be beneficial to your company and<br />
the environment as we move into a new<br />
era of air quality management.<br />
While this workshop is being held in<br />
Cape Town, we will accommodate<br />
delegates from outside the Metro<br />
boundaries.<br />
The workshop will take place at Parow<br />
Council Chambers, 1st floor, Parow Municipal<br />
Offices, Voortrekker Road, Parow, on Friday 13<br />
April 2012. Registration 10h00 – 10h30.<br />
The workshop will commence at 10h30 –<br />
13h00. It is expected that the workshop<br />
will take about 3 hours of your time.<br />
