6. .2 Requalification <strong>of</strong> Depth Certificate<br />

Once the initial certification requirements are met, divers whose depth certification has<br />

lapsed due to lapse <strong>of</strong> activity may be requalified after 2 dives to the previous certified<br />

depth.<br />

6.5.3 Medical Examination<br />

All certified scientific divers shall pass a medical examination at the intervals specified in<br />

Section 7.1.2. After each major illness or injury, as described in Section 7.1.2, a certified<br />

scientific diver shall receive clearance to return to diving from a physician before resuming<br />

diving activities.<br />

6.6 Revocation <strong>of</strong> Certification<br />

A diving certificate may be revoked or restricted for cause by the DSO or the DCB. Violation <strong>of</strong><br />

regulations set forth in this manual, or other governmental subdivisions not in conflict with this<br />

manual, may be considered cause. The DSO shall inform the diver in writing <strong>of</strong> the reason(s) for<br />

revocation. The diver will be given the opportunity to present his/her case in writing for<br />

reconsideration and/or recertification. All written statements and requests, as identified in this<br />

section, are formal documents which will become part <strong>of</strong> the diver's file.<br />

6.7 Recertification<br />

If a diver's certification expires or is revoked, he/she may be recertified after complying with<br />

such conditions as the DSO or DCB may impose. The diver shall be given an opportunity to<br />

present his/her case to the DCB before conditions for recertification are stipulated.<br />

MEDICAL STANDARDS<br />

7.1 Medical Requirements <strong>of</strong> VOG <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Laboratory</strong> <strong>Dive</strong>rs<br />

7.1.1 General<br />

1. Diving under the auspices <strong>of</strong> DOG <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Laboratory</strong> is permitted only with a<br />

current diving physical examination and a declaration by the examining<br />

physician <strong>of</strong> the diver's fitness to dive.<br />
