1.8.13 FIELD NOTES<br />

For a field worker, field notes are <strong>of</strong> utmost importance, I used to write my field<br />

notes daily and regularly by arrang<strong>in</strong>g the data. Whereas field notes serve as a<br />

mean to store the daily <strong>in</strong>formation, so, we can say that field notes are the core<br />

tools <strong>of</strong> research.<br />

1.8.14 JOTTING<br />

As we know that human memory is a very poor and we cannot remember th<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

for long period. So jott<strong>in</strong>g is a best technique to remember th<strong>in</strong>gs because these<br />

are <strong>in</strong> written form with us. I kept a not pad with me at all times <strong>in</strong> the field and,<br />

make field jott<strong>in</strong>g on the spot.<br />

1.8.15 LOG<br />

Anthropologist plan to spend his time on the field, it is always you do systematic;<br />

you spend one day <strong>in</strong> the field and made plann<strong>in</strong>g for the next day that what will<br />

you do tomorrow accord<strong>in</strong>g to your first day data.<br />

1.8.16 CASE STUDY<br />

Case study method is widely used <strong>in</strong> anthropological research and is an<br />

important source to know the <strong>in</strong>-depth analysis <strong>of</strong> community‟s perceptions about<br />

different phenomena. I have done case studies <strong>of</strong> 4 marriages as sample, two<br />

young women to study their life history, three families as sample for know<strong>in</strong>g their<br />

belief, marriage patterns, family history and other customs and traditions.<br />

1.8.17 SAMPLING<br />

Bernard def<strong>in</strong>es sampl<strong>in</strong>g as:<br />

“Samples are used to estimate the true values or parameters <strong>of</strong> statistics <strong>in</strong> a<br />

population and to do so with a calculable probability <strong>of</strong> errors.”<br />
