There was a very special atmosphere at t
year's open day at the Defence Animal Cent
Melton Mowbray. Not only was it the venue
the Canine Biathlon and the Service Dog of t
Year Competition, butthe Royal Army Veterina
Corps were also celebrating the 200
anniversary of the first veterinary surgeon, Jo
Shipp, being commissioned into the British Arm
Farrier and equine displays were matched
sheep and gundog demonstrations, with sw
boats and bounci ng castles to entertain
younger element. Pimms and beertents cater
for mums and dads, the weather was beaut
and so a good day was had by one and all.
