Results Manager integrates with Clarity programs, enabling teachers and administrators to see exactly what their students have done, when they did it, how much time they spent and what scores they achieved. So, how can Results Manager help you? Student management. You can organise your students into groups (e.g. year groups and classes) so you can allocate tasks and generate group reports. Login options. Results Manager allows you to decide which students can use the program (making sure you get the best use of your licences) and how they log in, e.g. name and password. Reports. The central function of Results Manager is to provide reports on student activity. You can generate three main types of report. 1. 2. 3. Student reports focus on the activity of a single student. Group reports focus on the performance of all the students within a group, additionally providing summaries and averages. Content reports display the performance of all students who have attempted specific activities. Clarity’s Practical Placement Test is a quick, convenient and economical tool for placing students at their approximate level of English. The test is in four parts: vocabulary, grammar, listening and selfassessment. The first three are built from item banks of multiple choice and gap fill questions. Question selection is random (within certain parameters), so that each test is different, increasing security, and effectively eliminating copying. The listening section tests not only the ability to hear and recognise utterances, but also the communicative intent. The self-assessment section at the end refines the scores students have achieved in the earlier sections by asking them “can do” questions based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The result is a single score placing the student in one of six bands, from Beginner (A1) to Advanced (C2). The test is administered online and can be used pre-course from home, or, more securely, in your centre. This program is designed to provide reading practice in a local, culturally-sensitive context. i-Read has proved extremely popular with students, and won the coveted Nikai Award for Teaching Innovation. No publisher can meet the needs of all teachers and all students, and that’s where Author Plus comes in. This program enables you to create your own interactive activities, aimed at your students’ exact needs, and to deliver them on a network, online or through your VLE. The program is easy to use, both for teachers and learners, and has a wide range of exercise types including multiple choice, gapfill, proof reading, text reconstruction and drag and drop. As a teacher, you have complete control over the content, and over the years teachers have made exercises for business English, vocabulary, listening and reading practice, and exam preparation. You could start by turning the paperbased exercises you have created in Word into interactive reading, speaking, writing and vocab activities. Author Plus includes an image bank and enables you to add your own graphics, audio and video files, and to link to PowerPoints and websites. The program provides detailed teacher support: a full colour manual, context sensitive help and tutorials, so it’s really quick and easy to get started. You can also use Author Plus to add to and adapt Clarity content programs such as Tense Buster, bringing them directly in line with the interests and learning needs of your students.
