BUYING POWER No other show in the Western Hemisphere attracts the quantity and quality of attendees like CONEXPO-CON/AGG. More than 125,000 industry professionals — representatives from all aspects of the construction industry — will come to do business at the 2008 show. Buyers at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 spent an average of 14.5 hours visiting the exhibits over an average of 2.7 days. The 2004 average for manufacturing/industrial shows was 9.0 hours over 2.1 days. Quality Attendance Registration results from CONEXPO-CON/ AGG 2005 revealed that the top level decisionmakers—presidents, owners, vice presidents, chief financial officers and managers—made up the largest group of buyers at the show. This group of management personnel with buying infl uence constituted 75% of the show’s attendees. CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 will build on past benchmarks in order to register a large number of quality attendees with true buying power. Net Buying Influence The overall Net Buying Influence (NBI) of attendees at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 and IFPE 2005 was 86% according to the Attendee Survey conducted by Exhibit Surveys, Inc. This means that 86% of the 124,000+ attendees were involved in the purchasing decisions for their companies. More specifically, 50% of attendees had the final say in the purchase of at least one of the products or services exhibited, 32% specified the supplier, and 50% recommended one or more products or services for purchase. Buying Habits Source: 2005 Attendee Survey ■ 51% of attendees planned to buy one or more of the types of products/services exhibited as a result of what they saw at the 2005 shows, a 10% increase from the 2002 show. ■ The average planned purchase of the types of products/services exhibited over the 12 months following the 2005 shows was $3.6 million. ■ 44% of the attendees made most purchases of the types of products/services exhibited within 6 months after the 2005 shows. ■ 42% of total planned purchases were influenced by what attendees saw at the 2005 shows. The 2005 attendance total was the largest ever achieved at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, totaling more than 124,000 industry professionals and breaking the all-time attendance record set at the 1999 show. 2
