> THE ENERGY BAR...
Celebrating Energy Bar habits has been so much
fun. The seventh sale has been both literally
and, more importantly, figuratively My Treat.
Thank you.
I’m having a blast with the dehydrator. Look for
new menu items such as fruit wraps and
chips as well as the inclusion of my own dried
fruits, vegetables, and herbs in the recipes
you’re already familiar with.
As always, I appreciate your business and value
your patronage. Enjoy these dog days of summer
and don’t be afraid to start any new habits.
Kind Regards,
> WHY WE LOVE SADIE… I'll tell you
why. Sadie competed this past weekend, (700
women), in the Toronto Olympic Distance
Triathlon (1.5K Swim, 40K Bike, and 10K run).
When the swim segment started, she was
immediately kicked in the face by another
swimmer, cracking the lens on one side of her
goggles. This forced her to swim with one eye
shut. The other eye had to contend with water
people traffic and seaweed, which had to be
constantly brushed aside for visibility.
At the end of the swim, competitors were given
a boost by tri-staffers to makeshift stairs that
had been positioned to get them out of the water.
Her staffer lost balance, tossed her to one side,
which resulted in a large cut to the underside of
one of her feet. There was a call for a medic
followed by "you're done for the day" Sadie
growled and barked out...."WRAP IT UP"!!!
She must have scared them because they did
(though with a poor wrapping job), and she
started her ride. Shortly thereafter she had a flat.
Seven minutes later, with the flat repaired, she
> JoAnn’s Tip of The Month:
If you're just starting to play tennis, there are
many technical aspects to the game that you
need to learn. However, there are 2 key things to
keep in mind at the start: timing and spacing.
Timing the ball coming towards you and meeting
it comfortably out in front of your body is crucial
in order to control the placement of the shot.
Having the proper space between yourself and
the impact point without reaching too far or
getting jammed with a ball too close to you will
allow you to swing freely. After you have mastered
these 2 key skills, you can move on to
Squash Corner
was back in the saddle. Every pedal stroke on her
injured food caused tremendous pain, and the blood
was flowing freely. She eventually became a one legged
rider and struggled on bravely for virtually the entire 40k.
With the ride behind her, she had the obstacle of a 10k
run in front of her. After a few strides she realized something
important ....."this wasn't going to be easy".
For a fleeting moment, the thought of packing it in
entered her head....but only for a moment. She reflected
on a Lance Armstrong quote... "pain is temporary,
quitting lasts forever". She put on her game face,
sucked it up as only great athletes are able to do, and
finished the race, hobbling all the way.
I don't do this story justice...her rendition was crazy funny.
But at the end of the day, I understood more clearly than
I did before just what it was about her that I loved.
I pass this on to make it perfectly clear to everyone that
Sadie is so much more than just another pretty face!
Written by Morris Greener.
HRC would like to welcome Sadie to the personal training
team. She recently graduated from Humber for Fitness and
Health promotion. Sadie is an extreme advocate of fitness and
we are thrilled to have her!
