ATTENDANCE/TARDINESS<br />

Attendance is required. You will be dropped from the course after your fourth absence.<br />

Note that missing any class periods can deeply affect your ability to succeed in the course.<br />

Being late will result in missing important in<strong>for</strong>mation and receiving partial or no credit on<br />

any assignments handed in, activities completed that day, etc.<br />

HOMEWORK/QUIZZES<br />

Homework will consist of problems from the course manual and, perhaps, a few will be added<br />

over the course of the semester. Problem sets will be due each Monday (may collect all<br />

sections or just one section assigned). One homework assignment will be dropped at the end<br />

of the semester. If you complete all assignments and receive full credit on all of them, you<br />

will receive 5 points extra credit at the end of the semester. Quizzes may be given in place<br />

of collecting homework assignments.<br />

EXAMS<br />

Exams will consist of real-world and conceptual problems related to content covered since<br />

the last exam. The final exam will be “big picture” comprehensive and will take place on<br />

Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 1:00PM-2:50PM.<br />

PROJECTS<br />

These are group-based writing projects that pose real-world problems requiring the openended<br />

use of one or more mathematical concepts.<br />

SHOW YOU KNOW<br />

These are conceptual, written and typed assignments in which I will ask you to demonstrate<br />

knowledge of a concept by digging deeper into one or more ideas.<br />

LATE WORK<br />

If you miss an exam without prior consent from me, you will receive a 0. Late<br />

homework/quizzes, (HW), Show You Know’s (SYK), and Projects will receive no credit.<br />
